First, the staff was amazing and made our experience worth it. Hotel is clean and walking distance to the beach, and rooms are as advertised. We arrived and the valet person greeted us instantly. We entered and were greeted with delicious drinks. Check-In was easy, and Arturo gave us a tour. We spent a lot of time at the roof top where we enjoyed delicious wings, fries, and shrimp tostadas. We had the all inclusive package and the drinks were amazing. The roof top experience was made spectacular by our waiter Mario. He provided excellent service and even remembered my “Tiki Lulu” drink from the previous nights. We really enjoyed the Italian restaurant, it is currently opened every other day. Breakfast was delicious, we had Ricardo and Asbel as our waiter. They were very accommodating. Asbel was one of the kindest servers we’ve ever encountered. Ricardo even pushed in our chair! The staff is very kind and we felt very welcomed by everyone we spoke to. Thank you to the amazing staff we apologize we didn’t get all of your names, thank you Mario, Asbel and Ricardo! We’ll see you next time!
Stay Anywhere but Reef 28
I had planned a vacation with my family that I had not seen in two years. I had my confirmation number, booked one month ahead, and was told they overbooked and had to stay elsewhere. I had to pay a taxi to take me to another hotel. I tried to check back into Reef 28 the next day and was not able to either as they were still overbooked. They cost my time, experience, cab fees, and had the audacity to charge me for the trip insurance even though I could not stay there. The front desk is extremely rude and would not allow me to speak to a manager.
Great job
Started with great service at check-in. Forgot your name but maybe Jasmine or something close? The rooftop pool and bar was awesome. Live music at night was fun on the roof also. Sushi and drinks at the pool, yes please😎. Had great Italian food for dinner. Service was great. I had a great breakfast on Saturday. I met two great servers during breakfast. Mara and Carlos were outstanding and super kind. Oh yeah, the bellman/security guy with the musical tattoos was killer also! So was the morning bartender in the lobby on Saturday. Sorry, I forgot your names. Security was great also. Thanks to everyone at the Reef. Great job.
Horrible Front Desk
The rudest front desk I have ever interacted with, it ruined the experience as the room, pool, location, food and rest of staff were good. Oh and if you want to sleep, this is not the place for you, the music bangs through the entire hotel all day all night from the pool parties
Wonderful Staff wonderful hotel
The reef is now my favorite hotel in Playa Del Carmen. This was my second stay and they did not disappoint. We were there from December 30 to January 3 and we had such a good time. I brought a friend with me and she loved it too. The rooftop is frankly why anyone comes and it’s well worth it. But the service is why you keep coming back. I especially enjoyed the rooftop staff particularly Soraya. She is so incredibly kind and professional and it was just great interacting with her as well as the rest of the rooftop waitstaff. I can’t remember the name of the doorman (with the tattoos) and I hate myself for it because he is frankly my absolute favorite person. Always super helpful always super friendly. I think I will try to come back at least once a year to enjoy the rooftop views, the beautiful rooms, And the incredible staff. My only criticism would be that they should do a better job of making mixed cocktails. Cosmopolitans were not very strong or well-made. Neither were the long island ice tea. These are pretty basic mixed drinks that any bartender should master. But beyond that we had a great time.
