A couple of Problems
Reviewed 25 november, 2021
Family stay, unfortunately for a funeral. Meal on the Wednesday eve was nice, although the menus in the rooms were slightly different to those offered in the restaurant. Vegan options a bit sparse. Differing opinions amongst the group about the heat in the room, or lack of it and the performance of the showers in a couple of the rooms. Wednesday eve Connie, who looked after us for dinner was excellent, very friendly and very efficient. On the Thursday evening we were "promised" by two staff members in the restaurant, that they would leave a "goodie bag" for those in our group that were leaving too early for the prepaid breakfast. Unfortunately there was nothing left in reception the following morning, so they faced a 6 hour coach trip with nothing to eat. Benedict in Reception did what he could but the restaurant wasn't even open yet. He spent his own money on snacks from the vending machine - he went out of his way to try and help, but there wasn't much he could do. Other than that, the stay was good.
Hot, loud and showing its age

Room overlooked the Plymouth Road which benefits the room with a feel and sound of being trackside at the le mans 24 hr race without leaving Plymouth. This pleasure was heightened by the room being excessively warm even in mid November the room was 23-24c at 4 am. The general condition of the room was worn, one bedside light was broken and one overhead light was broken. The room was looking quite tired, this hotel is in serious need of a refurbishment and some general TLC especially for the money they are charging for a room.

The hotel was as expected, clean and the bed, shower and room where very good. The only problem was the room was very warm as there was no air conditioning and although our stay was in November it was very warm at night.
lack of sleep

intermittent noise from inside hotel kept us awake and no social distance rules that we observed. good location for what we booked the hotel for although very near a busy road which meant some traffic noise.
I cant think of anything else they could do better

We stayed for 3 nights 7,8,9 November 2021 in a double room, one of the refurbished ones. We had the usual comfy mattress (it makes such a difference), a bath you can lie in, a newly designed window where you can get the air in and control the environment of noise. Yes, there is some noise from the busy road outside) The best was the breakfast. Cheerful staff, brilliant food literally all you can eat breakfasts, £7.99/£9.99 All the staff are friendly and motivated. A pleasure to be there. Free parking helps.
