More about the hotel
So Friendly.
I arrived tired and was booked in straight away. The room was small but pleasant with shower and bathroom. I slept well and when I arrived at breakfast was served immediately. The staff are the best I have ever met. So Friendly and helpful. I had time before my flight so we talked all morning. The room was not grand but was very nice and clean, and all I paid was 38 euro and 6 for the breakfast. So nice. Poitiers train station is a cross the road with ample taxis to take you anywhere you need to get. Great if you are traveling and want to make the effort to speak French. Would return.
good location
Old hotel Stayed one night Paid 46 euros for a room with two double beds......bargain! Bathroom was tiny and the fittings looked like they were about to fall off Too ages for the water in the shower to heat then it was too hot All in all, for what we paid we could not complain. we could have parked up the hill as it was the weekend it would have been free but we decided to leave the car in the long stay at the station, that was less than 10 euros
Location, location, location but not much more
Hotel Le Regina is conveniently located opposite the Poitiers train station and close to the town centre. The rate was cheap for France and you get what you pay for. It was reasonably quiet and there was an elevator and free WiFi. However, the bed was old and the side closest to the door was worn and uncomfortable. The only available power point was hanging off the wall so I disconnected the television and used that one. The bathroom was old fashioned but included a bathtub. However, the toilet didn't always flush well. Although check-in was supposed to be between 1400 and 2100 open when I arrived at 1410 the external door was locked. There was a brief note that said if the door is locked call a phone number. When I did this I was told to come back at 1500 which was really inconvenient as it was the dead of winter, I had a lot of luggage and had been travelling for hours to get there. This hotel is suitable for a short stay only if you need to be close to the railway station.
Unpleasant one night stay
I stayed at this hotel for one night as a last resort. The receptionist wasn't particularly helpful and seemed more concerned with checking his facebook than helping me. I wasn't told what time i had to check out, how to use the internet or anything else you would expect and found the website more useful than the staff. The room itself was what you would expect for the price. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly and there were scratchmarks on the headboard of the bed! The lighting in the hallways is triggered by a sensor that only works once you get into the middle of the hall which caused great problems trying to move around the hotel (though was still more appealing than the rickety, claustrophobic lift). There are much better hotels in Poitiers, this one should be avoided if possible.
Cosy and great location
We were on our way back by car from the Normandy coast to Spain and needed a stopover for the night. The hotel we chose was bang opposite the Poitier main station although the area appeared a little seedy at night when we arrived, but it could just have been the city. We had difficulty getting into the hotel as we were late and the main desk is not open 24H. So thankfully they stuck a not on the door with a number for prospective clients - and we got access. It turns out this is the procedure for the small hotels. The rooms were clean and spacious (4 persons) with free WiFi (advertised, did not try). The hot shower thought was just that - HOT as their faucet was jammed. But a good trip alround and recommended to all!
