More about the hotel
Convenient to enjoy the Grande Table restaurant at Michel Chabran
You might book a small room with a queen bed at affordable price during the low season (95 euros), so that you do not challenge your life on the night road after a good dinner with a few glasses of wine or liquor. The staff is welcoming and help carrying your luggage upstairs that is a very good thing as there is no lift in this ancient inn along road N7 (as famous in France as Road 66 in the states). The room is comfortable but the noise insulation is perfectible as you can hear all the traffic (voices and steps) in the corridor. On the other hand the insulation to the Road Nationale 7 is very efficient and this is important because this is a high traffic way. Bathroom is small, well equipped BUT needs some refurbishing , the exit of the shower tub is quite narrow, uncomfortable and request you really pay great attention and the ceiling painting is gone and looks a little dirty even reluctant, this is the really drawback as well as the carpet that looks used and stained so that you do not want to walk on it even wearing your socks, fortunately slippers are provided ...
Poor bedroom but delightful garden
Avoid the cheaper rooms. The middle price 130euro room was very small and dark with a window onto a public area near the road (no net or blind). There was a shower over a bath with very dated tiles and fittings. Unless staying for the excellent restaurant it was overpriced. No coffee or tea making in room but breakfast was a further 25 euros pp. Public rooms and the garden were high quality.
Great to be back
Excellent food and service in a classic french manner reasonably priced menus in the main restaurant, very comfortable room. A quiet oasis on the way to / from the south of France. We will return soon!
Convenient stop for the Via Rhona
We stayed two nights in the hotel as it was very easy to join the Via Rhona cycle route from the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean although maybe a little tired, the bathroom in particular. There is secure parking at the side of the hotel and plenty of seating and loungers are available in the pleasant grounds. There was a safe, slippers and dressing gowns in the wardrobe, hairdryer in the bathroom and a minibar in the room although we did not use it. The staff are very friendly and chatty. A small bowl of fresh cherries in the room was a nice treat.
Fair place, great staff
A nice place to stay if you eat at Chabran’s restaurant. Rooms and arrangement of the hotel need improvement (narrow stair case especially). Proximity to the main road (N7) despite obvious efforts in soundproofing, remains a drawback. However the staff is wonderfully professional and the quality of all services (breakfast, meals) outstanding.
