Guaranteed a surprise when checking in
Don't waste time specifying a room when you book , because they may well allocate you a different one when you check in. That was our experience, and not a pleasant one! We selected and booked a specific cottage - Whistler cottage -= because it had the king size bed we prefer. A gentleman checking in earlier than us did not like his room because it was too close to the very noisy bar, which at the time was full of a party bus of very drunk and foul-mouthed teenagers . I seriously doubt any of them were 18. Talk about irresponsible service of alcohol.I will be taking this up with the Mount Barker Police. He complained about it and demanded he be given a different room. So they gave him ours!
Accommodation a bit tired, everything else top drawer
Stayed in a family cottage. Has all you need although really needs a refurbish. Cottage #31 has a upstairs a/c unit which was lucky (only a few cottages have them) as it was 39C days. Lovely location. Great views. Beautiful beer garden to have a well deserved drink. Good local wine list and beer list. Food is simple but good. The pizzas are great.Centrally located a few mins down the road to Granite Skywalk and a few mins up the road to Dukes vineyard and Maleeya's Thai Cafe. A really great place to stay in Porongurup. PS. reception are extremely kind and helpful.
A bit too rustic
This is a family business and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. The Karri On Bar has a nice homey feel. It had a warm fire and some simple but tasty food. The bar offers regional beers and wines. The chalets are very basic and not really very comfortable.
Warm and cosy accommodation and tasty food
We stayed in one of the cottages for 2 nights and found the surroundings lush and picturesque. Food at the Karri On Bar was simple but delicious. This place is close the the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock and other hikes. Only 20 minutes from Bluff Knoll and the stunning Stirling Range.
Very serene
This is a very peaceful and relaxing place, between Mount Barker and Albany. We used this as our base as we explored Albany, we stayed 3 nights here and we loved it. The unit we had, had a huge gas fire which heated the whole place. We would go again.
