Incredibly rude owner - bait and switch pricing
Reviewed 20 april, 2021
It’s not like me to have to have a chip on my shoulder. But after several days, I want to give an honest assessment of an incredibly rude experience at this hotel. A friend and I just needed a clean room to go fishing out of for a couple days last week. I called the hotel and talked to the contact a couple months prior to our trip and was told the room would be $60 a night. When I checked in, the owner, Ron Patel, said it was $60 the first night and $120 for the second night. (I had a print our folder of my notes when I made the reservation. This price jump was a huge shocker to me. But we didn’t drive all that way to South Padre to then spend a lot of time trying to find another hotel room. Rather than the owner being sympathetic and trying to find someway to make it right. He immediately said “try comparing this price to the island”. (Which is like trying to compare a Timex watch to a Rolex.). In the the same breath said he’d just “cancel the reservation I find could something else”. He was incredibly rude. In fact, there was another guest in the hotel office area who sad “I can’t believe you’re talking to him like that” and Mr. Patel told her “to go to hell”! We did find three roaches in the room. I highly encourage you to make certain of the price and get it in writing. It’s an OK place for laying your head down but there’s probably many other places that you’ll be treated like you should be; a paying customer.
Clean, quiet and really inexpensive

Great hotel with a nice view of the bay, close to decent food, and very friendly and accommodating staff. Furniture is older and shows some wear, but the room was very clean and for the price was excellent.
Spring break trip

Great clean quiet place. Staff was very pleasant. It is and older hotel but it was clean and very cute and modest. The pool area is clean and good size to relax . Great price we will definitely rent there again . Spring break isn't spent in a room so it was a great place to shower unwind and sleep.

Stayed for 2 months last winter. In March when we left we made a reservation with Ron and Cecilia. Then in June they sold the property. It is now owned by Casa Rosa. We called prior to arriving and were told we didn't have a reservation. It would have been professional if someone had notified us of the changes by mail or with a phone call.

We chose this hotel as they said they were pet friendly (but only pets under 20lbs) . It is a typical beach inn, very very basic kitchen, 2 FULL size beds and bathroom. It satisfied our needs of 2 nights near the beach. It is right across the narrow street from a cemetery. We had no issues but no extras at this place, just a place to sleep. They also didn't have a breakfast. Great location to the pirates pier, and less than a 10 min drive to south padre.
