Good location but dated. Close to beach.
I would have given more stars if everything had been operating and updated. Having said that, the apartment was clean and had a great balcony! Room was spacious 1 bdrm on the north side, so views were pretty much of 5 min walk from the beach, and about 10 from food and shopping on the boardwalk. A couple of odd things about the room- No bowls? (We learned this is the norm in Portugal) Not sure how they eat cereal? 3 dining chairs and patio chairs for a 4 person apt? Beds were comfy, clean. The pool was lovely, clean and just the right temp to cool off but not too cool. Snack bar is permanently closed I think.
Great holiday
Great apartment. Spotless with good facilities. Not far from beach and restaraunts. Mini market nearby. A big thank you to the very helpful male staff member on reception who went out of his way to help us this morning.
Best apartman life in Praia da Rocha
This apartment building is clean, spacious, friendly staff and close to beach. Big, clean apartment, well equipped quality kitchen, spacious living and bed room, comfortable bathroom. The view is amazing from the big balconies, equipped with chairs and table. To watch the sunrise and also the sun set from there is priceless. Just a road cross from the beaches of Praia da Rocha. The pool is big and clean. Has good priced restaurant in the season. Very much recommended lodging.
Standards met
Really quiet location,10 minutes walk to main town centre (ask reception for shortcut) & close to small supermarket. If you dont enjoy walking its probably better to stay somewhere closer to town as you do need to walk back and forth a few times a day if going to the beach and out for dinner, the walk includes a small hill. Self catering room with access to a pool with a snack bar. Basic room with balcony and large living room/kitchenette with fridge, hobs, microwave and kettle. We booked a superior double room but it was actually two single beds that we had to join together. ‘Superior’ only meant it would be one of the higher floors so you would get a better view; unfortunately we were facing other hotels and not the sea but still enjoyed sitting there during the evening. Check in is at 12.00 and check out at 15.00 which can be a bit inconvenient with most flights arriving/leaving Faro. However, the hotel gives you the opportunity to leave you suicases at reception if you have to check out before your pick up time for departure. The strip has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops; its also a nice area to enjoy a walk as its really calm. If wanting to head to the beach I suggest walking towards the lighthouse as the beach right next to it has amazing and calm waters whereas if going to the opposite side the sea can be quite rough, however still worth a visit as it has amazing caves to see. All restaurants visited seemed to create a relaxing atmosphere, the service wasnt rushed even if the place was busy and you were allowed to enjoy your dinner/time. We recommend visiting Café del Mar, food was delicious! From the 1st to the 6th of Oct it was really hot during the day and a nice temperature in the evenings, there was the occasional breeze which was quite enjoyable. Overall,if you are not expecting anything too glamorous - a place to sleep, eat and shower - its a good place to stay with good value for money.
Poor! Wouldn’t return!
Wouldn’t return to this accommodation. The rooms are basic, the pool is freezing cold, the staff were not helpful and the food was awful. We ordered food by the pool one day and the rice and chips both tasted of fish. Absolutely disgusting! The hotel is about 5/10min walk to the beach which is good and that was the only good thing about staying here. Portimao is lovely but I would recommend staying elsewhere!
