Good location and newly refurbished hotel!

Reviewed 27 november, 2021

We paid extra for a junior suite that was lovely and the hotel stay was overall a very pleasant one. I ate breakfast daily at their restaurant downstairs and Brent the waiter was super helpful and a great conversationalist. Wish we had time to try out their spa. The location was closely to many Portland highlights, including Old Port. All within driving distance of a few minutes.

A Room with a View

Reviewed 23 october, 2021

When I was choosing a hotel room in Portland, two things were important to me: first that it be a Marriott---that I may qualify for Lifetime Platinum Status and second, that it be in downtown Portland. As USA TODAY’s First Road Warrior of the Year, I travel a lot. There were several things about this hotel room worth noting, but I will limit myself to the top three. First, and foremost for me, was the view. Because I travel so much, overlooking a parking lot or an HVAC installation is depressing. This room and the one we had been in previously (3 nights earlier) had city views (see the photo below). Second, the room was very comfortable. Though we had way too much luggage, there were places to put all the bags so that they were accessible. Third, Westin is known for its Heavenly Bed and our bed was just that. But no discussion of a hotel stay would be complete without highlighting the service. From their Rooms Manager, Audie Murphy to the bellperson they call “Mary Muscles,” every one of their staff people was competent and gracious. Finally, for this property, be sure to spring for at least the city view. You’ll be glad you did.

Comfortable hotel in arts district

Reviewed 21 october, 2021

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. Very convenient as my husband was there for a conference. Positives: the valet service and attendants, like Marty, Austin, Carter and Milo, were excellent. They were friendly and helpful, with good local advice. Barbara and Patricia in housekeeping were very good. We liked the food in the restaurant C2 and the rooftop. The front desk staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and needed to be asked several times for requests. Excellent fitness center. It is really convenient if you want to visit the lovely art museum, the historical society (Wadsworth/Longfellow house). About 15 minute walk to the more tourist area.

One look at the filthy dingy tiny room that we had paid nearly $700 for the night and we demanded a refund. AVOID

An absolute dump of a hotel situated in the heart of Portland's burgeoning homeless drug addict district. Tiny filthy rooms with no furniture and some of the worst lumpy beds in the industry. Dreary room was full of uncleaned surfaces, stained sheets and rug, hair, peeling paint, nicked walls. No bathtub. Strangely there are also no published rack rates on the door despite what I thought was Maine law to do so. We supposedly had one of the hotels best rooms that I had spent a Marriott Suite Reward plus near $700 for the night to get. Front desk claimed to have no other available rooms at 4pm in the afternoon despite website claiming availability of other standard rooms priced at $1,020 per night. I can only imagine what the worst rooms must be like. A black spot on the Westin brand; both the owner/operator and Marriott should be deeply ashamed.

Portland , Maine experience… the valets and shuttle drivers made all the difference!

Reviewed 9 october, 2021

I was not impressed with the Westin Harborview for the first few days…..no maid service and limited dining options in the hotel or within walking distance. The valets and shuttle drivers turned a mediocre experience around. Thanks to Marty, Alex and Jamie for opening Portland to us! My rating would have been average…but these three men really went above and beyond to help my friends and me get to and from restaurants and sites on the waterfront. Thank you! The Westin is lucky to have you on their team!
