A Clean, Comfortable Stay - exactly what we were after!

Opinión escrita el 5 de julio de 2022

It's NOT the Ritz, of course. The hotel IS "dated." But I knew - or at least "assumed" - that such was the case. The room was clean; breakfast was adequate and filling. Plenty of hot coffe, at all hours. That's a GREAT "perk" {hehe} for me! Grandsons and I were very comfortable. The boys entertained themselves out back, looking at fireflies, and catching a turtle. Oops! I mean a "tortoise." I've just been educated on the difference. Nice view of the (Scioto Valley?") and fields from the dining area window. If the electrical boxes weren't in the way, it would be even better. The only downside - and I think it's been mentioned in other reviews - is that darn back door on the first floor. It was just a few step from our room; VERY handy for my two BIG 6' tall grandsons to go out and explore a bit. BUT that door was never locked during our stay, and it may not even HAVE key card capability. Having such an UNSECURED entrance, at the very dark, back side of the property, is just asking for trouble. This deficiency should be corrected IMMEDIATELY! The property met all our needs, and was within our budget. I would stay here again.

Mediocre

Opinión escrita el 19 de mayo de 2022

Everything was mediocre. Atmosphere is not warm and inviting. Everything worked inside room. Seemed clean. Location is ok.? Fitness center is subpar. Equipment is very old. Staff was about as dull as the environment.

Will Be My Last Stay at Portsmouth Quality Inn!

Opinión escrita el 11 de febrero de 2020

Starting with the unkept desk clerk, then the unsecured door into the back hallway of the hotel (just about 3 doors from my room)- there was no need for use of my key card at the outdoor entry at all- security did not work obviously. We've stayed here off/on for many years and it keeps going downhill- it's about to hit rock bottom. The furniture is all banged up and the couch had multiple stains that I don't want to know what from! I killed 3 huge stink bugs in my room & was bitten by bugs on my ankle standing on the carpet. Bathroom's molded, fixtures are covered with thick green gunk, toilet runs if don't remove the lid to stop that, AND I had to stand in 3-inches of water to take a shower even using the drain/shower properly, broken floor tiles/molding. Dirty mustard yellow paint. Ceilings had cracks running the full width of room that looked like leaks-but was on 1st floor! An earlier stay, I complained about the shredded sheer curtains hanging behind the drapes. Now it's only drapes, no sheers any more. Lamp shades are stained & broken, bases are all rusted. Fridge doesn't work right. Give me a break! Last stay here! My stay this time was for a family funeral. So it would've been nice to get to come to a nice comfortable clean SAFE and SECURE room to REST. But that wasn't the case. I will be heading towards the new Wheelersburg hotel next time- more miles will be well worth it to not have the issues at this one. I chose to go down the road & buy my breakfast. The characters huddled around the lobby that would've been the makers of that breakfast didn't wet my appetite, I'll leave it at that. But then usually when we've stayed, you have to walk thru smoking employees outside the door. Ohio is a nonsmoking in public spaces state by the way. But yet they place smoking areas where public has to walk thru it. It's been going downhill for many years, downgrading from a Comfort Suites to a Quality Inn over that time and has changed ownership at least once in that time. That ownership change had to have sent it into the hands of an "I don't care owner". Whatever is next in the bottom totem pole is next for them- I think that should be closure. The staff has lost it's pride in the maintenance of this hotel. They don't show they care about the quality of the facility or service offered to a customer. So the name of Quality in their brand is not true to the service offered. And I'm not paying to stay in mold and dis-repair again. Had enough. Portsmouth is very limited in what's available. But I will drive further before I stay here again. So sad, because they could've had a fine establishment there IF they would've cared and took pride in this business.

Don't judge this book by its cover

If I could give a rating for the hotel itself & the staff they would be vastly different. This hotel is fine for a short stay. It isn't a resort for a long stay but then again there isn't a lot around this area that I'd think someone would be there for a long time. First the bad, the hotel is tired. It is in much need of a major renovation. The shower head vibrated and shook in the wall because it was loose. The curved shower curtain rod was not straight because it was falling out of the wall on one side. The furniture & carpet looks dated. All of that being said, as far as the room itself goes the main thing I cared about was that it was clean and IT WAS CLEAN! Now onto the good and the good was very good. I dealt with four employees while I was there for the night. The nighttime front desk person, the daytime front desk person, the lady that was taking care of the breakfast bar and the housekeeper. In every single case they could not have been nicer, more accommodating or more helpful. I've stayed in some very upscale hotels and I've never been at a hotel with a better staff. I will be in that area once a year at the most and just for a night but I will definitely stay at this hotel if/when I am in the area again. It's not a resort but if you'd like a clean place to stay with a terrific staff then I highly recommend this hotel.

Outstandingly disappointed.

Where do I begin? The rooms are tiny. The WiFi is complete ass and kicks you off at random, constantly. The staff were rude and struggled with managing the many rooms we had booked. Granted, we did have a large number of people, but it took a great deal of effort to get our rooms. The breakfast isn’t great. The walls are paper thin and you can easily hear things from all the rooms around you, including above or below. The features of the rooms were hit or miss, namely the microwaves, which were scattered at random throughout the hotel rooms. The rooms seemed clean enough, but I can’t say the same for the halls. Unfortunately I’m not sure if it gets much better in this area, so you can either commit to a bit more driving, or stay here. I would recommend the driving.
