Albergo California

Maybe I was expecting to much but we payed €180 a night and after walking trough Positano I wished we had spend a bit more to have a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was very dissapointing although I had heard good things, so maybe it was because of corona (which I understand puts a lot of pressure on hotels). You were not allowed to go to the buffet (understandably) but we had go wait at least 25-30 minutes before they came to offer us water/coffee. There were not many people but I guess the staff was badly organised. I will say the location could not be better, the view is nice and the rooms are clean and spacious. Also: the last day they had a change of staff which were clearly a lot nicer and very helpful trying to get us a scooter.

I emailed them in July 2020 about reserving a room in July 2021. Turns out they were already booked for my dates. BUT....... they emailed me back so quickly to inform me that they had no availability. In my experience, hotels with no availability are pretty slow to return a message saying we are booked, but they responded very quickly. I replied expressing my disappointment, and asked them if they had a recommendation for a similar hotel, and they replied again very quickly giving me one. Turns out the hotel they recommended was one we stayed at and loved in 1995! So if the owners/operators of a hotel will treat a stranger who is not going to be staying at their hotel this nicely, i can only imagine what great hosts they must be to their guests. God willing, we will be fortunate enough to return to Positano yet again, and i hope we will be able to stay at the California!

Positano is the most beautiful place on earth. Hotel California was featured in the movie Under the Tuscan Sun and it’s absolutely beautiful. Service was impeccable, the rooms were spacious with a refreshing air. Close to the beach, maybe 15 minutes walking down the stairs, their included breaking was delicious, their patio outside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is just breathtaking and we can’t wait to go back.

We were welcomed warmly and able to get into our room early. The room was incredible! It was a very large with beautiful tile and an equally large bathroom. Then, there was the small balcony looking over the sea and a picture perfect Positano! The location was very central and the restaurant, Don Giavanni was so good, we ate lunch there more than once. They also had the best American coffee I've ever had and I could go down early and the staff would provide me with a carafe and 2 cups on a tray to take back to the room to enjoy before breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We only stayed 2 nights but it was very memorable. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable!

We booked this hotel last minute, literally as we were in the cab on the way from Naples airport. The staff were great and very helpful at all times! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Positano, clean and has an amazing sea view come rain or shine in their restaurant area.
