Worth a stay
Great value for money, lovely breakfast area and the proximity to the beach is a great plus. Also very nice views of the Mediterranean. The serenity of this place is appreciated especially if you are in Positano during peak season.
Wonderful 3 night stay here
Dont believe all the reviews. Felice and Anna and staff are very helpful and hard working. Treat these people with respect and they will reciprocate. The views from our room and terrace were stunning and some of the best we have experienced from worldwide travelling. This is a tranquil place especially during the day ( the upside to not being in town). The breakfast area and gardens are awesome and kept spic and span. Don't stay here if you dont like steps, especially with luggage. In fact don't come to Positano if you don't like steps. The walk into town is about 20/25 minutes depending on how brave you are dodging between parked cars on the main Amalfi coast road. The restaurant recommendations ( all with free shuttle) over 3 nights were excellent. We found the buses to be next to useless at this time of year as they often roll on by already full. I wouldn't rely on them if you need to get somewhere on time. Better to lash out on taxis. Especially if going to Bomerano to start the awesome walk along the Path of the Gods ( inc. A rather nice extension to Montepertuso and down to Positano). I wanted to give this place 5 stars but personally I found the price a bit high (like all of Positano) and the rooms (whilst very clean, large enough, good AC, safe, fridge) could do with better soundproofing between them. Great doors seal out light and noise from outside. Pack some cotton wool if you're a light sleeper. I did find the mattress rather hard ( which is better than too soft I agree). Excellent breakfast- healthier than further up the coast - from a delightful terrace. My overall memory of La Malliosa will be sitting on a lovely terrace staring out to sea so thank you Felice and Anna for helping make our last few days in Italy a great experience.
Miserable place
As other reviews note, there are much better places to stay in and around Positano. Our room was scary, no windows and barebone, the manager was rude and inefficient, unwilling to provide any assistance. Breakfast was a joke, completely cold. Coffee was terrible. Long walk to beach, dont be misguided here.
AMAZING view
Arriving to the resort can be a challenge altogether. Be sure to plan ahead with a form of transportation to get you here. When we arrived, we met the owner/manager/all purpose guy who we found to be funny and full of personality. He is very dry and sarcastic, which could bother some people, but we loved it. All our bags were carried for us down the narrow steps to the check in area which is just a desk in the outside area. He offered us complimentary iced tea during check in and provided us with ways to get around and where to go eat. This resort has a shuttle that will take you to La Taverna del Leone, which was an AMAZING restaurant. He then explained they offer "free fitness" if you choose to go to the beach which is about 300 steps down. We made the trip down to the beach twice and its worth it. The steps are mixed in terms of size and if you just take it slow its a scenic walk, but remember you have to walk back up! The room itself is nothing special. We were in a room that fit 3. There was a queen bed and then a twin against the wall. The comforter and sheets are from the 90s. The room also has a small fridge and mini flat screen tv. They have wi-fi but it was spotty. Worked better outside the room which contains two chairs. The view from the room is worth paying the money to stay here. The bathroom is tiny and could get humid. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room clean. At night, the ceiling of the room glowed like stars, but when we spoke to our neighbors they did not have the same luxury. I think there are nicer rooms, from photos posted, so it must be luck of the draw. They offer a breakfast in the morning which is generally cold items, such as breads, spreads, fruits and cereals. There are a few different levels of this hotel, each offering a spectacular view. Do not expect pish-posh because that is not what you will be getting. It pretty much served as a place to take a shower and to sleep. In that regard it served its purpose. If you are looking for luxury, try somewhere else.
Only the view is good
This hotel is on a very dangerous road and unsafe to walk along. The view from the garden of this hotel is spectacular but not all rooms have a view. The first room I was in didn't even have a window, I felt like I was in a bunker, it was awful. Then it had a plumbing problem so I moved rooms and the second room had a very small veranda where I could admire the view. Breakfast was all cold, they only toasted bread on request. No safe in room as advertised. Think there are much better places to stay for the large expense. Not worth the money just for the view!
