A well-located, clean and comfortable hotel

Reviewed 16 january, 2022

Hotel Porto Allegro is located in the Old Town of Puerto Vallarta, within easy walking distance of the beach, the Malecon and all the other attractions of the Romantic area. Our initial room, on the street side of the hotel, was a little noisy but Victor at the front desk was very accommodating in moving us to a room on the back, which was very quiet. The entire hotel was very clean. The breakfast, included in the room cost, was excellent, with a wide range of choices, made to order. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

This is a good hotel

Reviewed 9 january, 2022

I stayed at the Porto Allegro, also known as the Porto Alegre, for a week in January 2022. For its price range, this is a good choice. Located on a small side street just north of the Rio Cuale, it's basically in the heart of the tourist zone without any street noise. I did not have any noise issues from other guests, but I guess it all depends on who's staying there when you are. (There isn't any carpeting or sound dampening inside the building, so you get that shotgun-blast effect when people close their doors.) The rooms are nothing fancy but perfectly fine. I found the mattress very comfortable - not mushy at all. Room temperature was controllable by A/C and fan. Roller blinds to block all light when needed. Importantly, the shower was A+ - strong flow and maintained constant temperature. Also importantly, wi-fi was excellent. I only experienced an outage for a couple hours one weekday afternoon, who knows why. TV had several hundred channels, mostly Mexican with a few U.S. channels thrown in. Free breakfast every morning with a good variety. Inside the room, there's complimentary coffee and bottled water, and they'll give you a bottle of wine upon arrival. There's a rooftop hot tub and a ground-level "fitness center" consisting of a treadmill, a rack of light free weights, and an all-in-one weight machine that is kind of useless. Staff everywhere is super nice and responsive. i had a few issues that were taken care of immediately.

Very comfortable

Check in was easy and prompt.A.C. worked great, I had a room on the 2nd floor close to the lobby so I could hear any loud guests arriving but at least it's on a quiet street. That was the only negative. The bed was very comfortable and soft.Breakfast was very good on the rooftop with a nice view of the church.Shower was good with hot water.. Overall a nice clean room so I would stay there again. It's close to many great restaurants and the malecon. Also very convenient for exchanging dollars at the Banco Azteca a block away

Perfect Location and Wonderful Customer Service

Reviewed 23 november, 2021

This is the place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Here's what you get: an amazing breakfast, a gorgeous view from the rooftop terrace (I got to see the full moon) excellent customer service, and a quiet location. The wifi works great as I had to work and it was no problem to connect. Most places in PV claim to have it all but they really don't - this hotel delivers! I like the lobby when you first arrive as you might want to relax there or on the rooftop or in your room. They even have a small gym which is just what I needed. Air conditioning works great. And they have an elevator so you don't have to climb stairs if you don't want to. I've traveled in 36 countries and this is my favorite place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. Impressive and remarkable management of this hotel - they know how to treat tourists with excellent service.

Quaint Older Hotel, Close to Downtown & Zona Romantico.

When we compared the less expensive AIRBNB in the area, we found this location to be better. Although the hotel rate was a little higher, the AIRBNBs cost more after all the extra fees. Just a block from the Malecon, 2 blocks from Zona Romantico. Very touristic with all the trappings in the area. Be sure and explore the back streets away from the beach to find the best prices on restaurants.
