More about the hotel
Needs to be improved
We deliberately chose this hotel to be away from the centre of town. It is a pleasant 2km walk along the lake shore to get there, but there are good local restaurants with a Minimarket and Lavanderia around the corner on Blanco Encalada. The street outside is unpaved, so the constant rain makes the 200m walk to the lake a muddy experience. Mini buses between Puerto Varas and Saltos de Petrohué run along the lakeside road. The hotel itself is an odd experience. Many parts of the hotel look like they have had home maintenance by an amateur. They do laundry, but don't tell you how much unless you specifically ask to see a price list. English is spoken by some staff, but not all, so experiences vary. The hotel wants to push all communication through their inadequate "portal" and don't answer emails. The room for breakfast is quite small for the hotel size and the fact that they host tour groups means that you cannot always get into breakfast and when you can, there is always a logjam around the buffet. The dining room staff are not attentive to replacing coffee, milk, bread etc when it runs out or to clean a table to enable the next customer to sit down. There are extra tables near reception, but these are not utilsed. You can probably do better.
Perfect gateway
Modern, spacious and good level of details. I loved the poetry extracts all around the hotel. Nice touch. We enjoyed a good night at Puerto Varas. Close to several good restaurants. Breakfast was fine but not surprising.
Nice hotel for a couple of days
Nice little hotel near the coast of Puerto Varas. Wonderful views from the suites and actually just what you need to be comfortable for a couple of days. Great idea to rent a car in Pto. Montt and from Puerto Varas visit places like Frutillar and Puerto Octay.
Simple, cerca de la playa, algo caro y servicios deficientes
We was 1 night, the price 120 USD is a bit high. The breakfast is too simple, the TV image has interference, it has not hot weather (it was warm, almost cool ). Summary we found a different hotel for the second night.
Worst place we've ever stayed
This hotel is so out of the way for any traveller which wouldn't be so bad except trying to get into town took sometimes close to an hour. Our only other option was to walk to and from town, buses and cabs don't go by as frequently as the guy that runs the hotel will tell you. When checking out we tried to pay with a credit card to receive the tax free rates for tourists, however they of course don't take credit then when asked if they would be charging tax the girl at the front desk informed us that the owner made a point to tell her to charge us. Over all we would let anyone know not to waste your time with this hotel, spend an extra little bit to get a nicer hotel close to town.
