Friendly people, good Location, but too noise.
Personnel are veri nice and friendly, also location is really good. One problem is that I believe I was mislead by the pictures. There is nothing to do on the hotel. Its just bed and breakfast. Also not a place to relax. Bed was small, too much light inside the room, so 6am was already impossible to sleep. A lot of noise. You can hear noises very loud from other rooms. Also (Not the hotel fault) but super anoying is that there is a church one block away that rings a fake bell (Speakers) EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES 24 hour a day, 7 days per week. Really terrible.
Very disappointing
Positives - Our studio room was adequate. Immaculately clean, nice bathroom and big, comfortable bed. Nice breakfast staff. Nice breakfast, plenty to eat. Area surrounding apartment beautiful (rural). Close to the town of Puigcerda. Negatives - No contact with a person on arrival. Just a note written in Spanish which didn’t help us. No idea where to park until a guest with limited English told us of a locked compound nearby. Hubby not happy as our car was parked over long grass. Fire hazard. I booked this accommodation for its rural views (we love country settings),however our studio was over the road from the main building. No windows at all, just two large skylights. Very disappointing.
Peaceful retreat but....
This is a beautiful conversion of an 18th century barn in the centre of this peaceful village. Bedrooms overlook the central courtyard and are on the small side for the price charged. Studio Apartments are in a house across the road and up 30+ stairs. Cooking equipment is basic (no sharp knife or cutting board) and views are sadly limited as the windows are Velux style. It is worth noting that there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance and during our stay the nearest was in Puigcerdà - 10 mins drive away.
Very nice house in a village
The house we got was very clean. It had two levels: kitchenette and living room with a bathroom downstairs and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The kitchenette is we'll equipped and there's also a washing machine. Breakfast in the small dining room is modest but suffices. Louis, the owner is very nice and willing to help, although communication is English is not so easy for him. I think it's a lovely place to stay as a family.
Delightful experience from beginning to end
Situated a couple of miles outside Puigçerda is the delightful hamlet of Age. Comprising working farms and tourist accommodation, most of it shut up when we visited in May, it is a lovely place to wander around. The only sounds are the gentle tinkling of the church bell and the bells on the cattle & horses (!) in the fields. Cal Marrufès is a delightful barn conversion in the centre of town. On arrival our key had been left on the reception desk with details of how to find our room (rooms have names not numbers) which was lovely. There was however nobody to ask about the location of the car-park. Our heavily laden car, with a large amount of wood on the top and full of expensive tools & equipment en route to our Spanish villa was definitely something we did not want to leave on the side of the road. I telephoned the number on the front of the property and after several minutes of realising my Spanish wasn't as good as I thought it was the proprietor appeared. He suggested several places to leave the car in the surrounding lanes and assured us it would be OK - it was. Our bedroom, although rather small, was delightful. The view of the courtyard and surrounding hills was lovely. The little fridge contained two bottles of complimentary water. The bed was incredibly comfortable and everything was finished off to a very high quality. Breakfast was plentiful & it was lovely to chat to the Polish and Spanish families who were also staying. Delightful features like the covered well & old cart added to the ambience. We loved it. For dinner we ventured into Puigçerda which is also lovely with a good choice of eateries. A trip to the lake in the middle of town is essential. Highly recommended, just wish we could stay longer.
