Staff was not helpful and did not communicate with eachother. They did not care about your stay or solve any issues. Everyone in the front desk and guest service are managers and none of them willing to help

The resort was average at best.We didn't like that there was no thermostat in the room, only hi low knob for ac. It was never quite cold enough. They ran out of beach towels almost everyday. The buffet was not very good. All meats over cooked and dry. We have stayed at numerous resorts in Punta Cana and La Romana. The restaurants were average, but you had a limited number of reservations that you could make. The one thing that was outstanding was the staff. All staff was very helpful and accommodating. Claudio in guest services was exceptional. He spoke very good English. He was very attentive and catered to our every need. We took our 80 yr old mother with us and he was especially caring and supportive to her, helping her up and down stairs and difficult walk ways. He would be the reason we would come back. Felt like family. Was advised to stay at iberostar grand, higher end and was told has better food. Going to try it in the future. It will also give me a chance to walk over to the Iberostar Dominicana to say hello and shake Claudio's hand. What ever your doing iberostar, keep it up with your staff, way above average, 5 star plus.
The worst resort out of 23 visitrd

I’ll try to keep it short. For snacks at 3pm arrival, there was “arroz y berenjena”, rice and eggplant. When I inquired about more options, he just said “not today” with his back turned to me. The room was like a motel. My wife had to shower fast because it looked and felt so small, humid and dirty. We arrived as instructed but told I could make no reservations to any restaurants. With regard to “going above and beyond”, they didn’t even try going “above” much less beyond. Finally, and worst of all, we arrived and there were locals in the bathroom just hanging around and sitting on the faucet. This alone showed us this is not an exclusive resort but a local hotel that “winks” an eye to locals who come inside. AND FINALLY… my wife and I were playing pool and the locals (who bring 6 kids each) send their kids to play with us. We were swarmed by so many kids we called it a night at 7pm. The resort sent nobody to deal with it. Honestly the worst resort I’ve ever been to.

Enjoyable holiday but not 5*

It was really difficult to rate this hotel as there were some huge positives and aspects we really enjoyed but I don't believe this is a 5* experience. One of the biggest issues was a lack of English speakers at the hotel. The gentleman that checked us in couldn't speak a word of English and had to use his phone to translate a request to give him a cash tip to upgrade our room. Apart from that, he told us no information about the hotel. If you can speak a good level of Spanish, you will be fine here, but unfortunately we don't which made it hard at times to communicate with staff. Our room was a Junior Suite. It was really spacious but very dated considering the receptionist told us that it was recently refurbished. We had an issue with our front door getting stuck and they had to call someone out to fix it. The bed was really comfy. The view from our balcony was gorgeous. Biggest issue with the room was a lack of soundproofing, our neighbour kept us up at 3am and 5am a couple of times with their television. We shouldn't be able to hear that in our junior suite. Yisibel was our "personal concierge" and it became apparent her only targets were to sell time shares. She forced us to have breakfast at the Iberostar sister hotel and sit through a timeshare sales pitch. At breakfast we weren't even allowed to eat on our own, we had Loris (someone from sales) sit through the entire breakfast with us, making for an extremely uncomfortable experience as we had to sit through small talk which I believe he thought was generating a rapport with us. It was doing the opposite. This sales pitch wasted 2.5 hours of our holiday (frustrating when you spend a lot of money to be there). My advice to anyone is to say no to this pitch. Yisibel booked us 3 reservations and I had to constantly chase for the details of these via WhatsApp. The restaurants (apart from the buffet) require reservations but you only get so many per stay. This seemed strange when a lot of the restaurants were half empty. The steak and seafood restaurants were terrible, I really recommend avoiding these. The food was awful and the service was quite poor. The final restaurant we tried was the French restaurant and this was amazing. The food was the best we'd eaten at that hotel and the staff were exemplary. Please pass on our thanks to the staff at the French gourmet restaurant. The buffet was great for breakfast with lots of variety. My suggestion is to eat lunch at the main buffet restaurants and not the restaurant near the pool as the food there was not good (apart from the fresh paella). The first few days we were there, the buffet food was poor and we really weren't enjoying it, then halfway through our holiday it changed and became really tasty, with a good variety. The drinks selection on the all inclusive is very good. Lots of cocktails included, which we really enjoyed. The pool bar has great staff, fast and creating nice cocktails. There is a lot to do at this resort. Throughout the day there are a lot of activities to get involved in. The music around the pool can be quite loud. The DJ booth is near the green pool so we preferred to grab some sunbeds nearer the big blue pool instead so that we could have some piece and quiet if we wished. The foam pool party was a lot of fun. Be careful around the pool, it can be extremely slippy when wet. The pools are large with loads of space for swimming. In the evening, some of the entertainment was actually really enjoyable. There was always something on at the theatre and near the Punta Cana lobby area so you could choose what you wanted to watch/get involved in. The waitresses that were serving drinks in the theatre area were really great. Always keeping your drinks topped up, regardless of how busy it was. We used dressel divers who are onsite for a diving excursion to Saona Island. The diving was really expensive but good, we saw 3 turtles on a beautiful reef. Finally, if you're willing to tip the staff you can get whatever you want. Sometimes they didn't even provide a good service but expected a tip. Overall, we had a great time at the Iberostar Punta Cana. The grounds were stunning, the pool area was good, there was a lot going on and the drinks selection was excellent. As mentioned, they need to scrap forcing people into a timeshare sales pitch as it left a sour taste in our mouths on day 2 of our holiday. The holiday got much better when the food improved and we enjoyed a lot of the facilities the hotel had to offer.
