The hotel staff was great. I want to point out a few: Antonio, our mayordomo was very welcoming; Adelaida, our server by the pool, was THE BEST… look for her when you get there; Jacob, one of the drivers gave us a tour to some of the other hotels in the area and he was reprimanded for doing so… (let them do that. Thanks to that tour I may come back with my family to Fantasia hotel); and Maira, oh Maira, our server at the lobby both nights, she was an angel…it was so hot that she made us fans with pieces of carton… amazing!!! The only downside of the trip was the reservations for the different restaurants in the area. Even though we made reservations for Thursday and Friday (Las Olas Brazilian and Mika, the Japanese restaurant) we were not on the list… and contrary to what I’ve known all my life about the great service provided by our Dominican neighbors, the “capitanes” at each restaurant were not as welcoming… after 30 mins of begging, we got in. The staff at Las Olas, meh…, however, the great Tania at the Japanese restaurant changed our bad mood and we had a blast. Bless Her!!! Our last night we ate at Meat with no reservation problems. Our server, Juan, was a little shy, serious and quiet until he sang Happy Birthday to another table and we saw his true calling!! We saw him smile. My friends and I had a great time, but the app for restaurant reservations should be working better next time.

Stayed with my childhood friends for a relaxing celebration of our 50th birthday. Not as expected and not the best, the food wasn’t great. The Brazilian restaurant is a disaster from beginning to end. Also went through lots of trouble with our reservations. However some staff made a huge difference in our stay and I am extremely grateful for them and the fantastic service the offered us Adelaida from the pool area was super sweet, attentive and a very hard worker. I really hope someone appreciates her, she’s great. Tania at Maiko was the funniest, nicest lady you can ever find. She is the shinning star at that restaurant! Mayra at the bar in the lobby of the Ámbar is superb, always with a smile and trying to make us feel welcomed and taken care of at all times. Jaykob, the golf cart driver, was excellent. Went out of his way to show us around, got in trouble with one of his supervisor for it. To his supervisor: If it wasn’t for Jaykob, my friend would have never seen the castle hotel where she now plans to take her daughter, so commend him for his marketing skills. Antonio was very nice and accommodating. Last but not least, the girls at the spa were super nice, attentive, courteous and make our experience great. Again, the food and restaurant reservations service have a lot of room for improvement. The orientation process at reservations was not clear, could’ve been simpler and more accommodating. However the human quality of some of the employees made a world of a difference!
Our LEAST favorite All Inclusive

First, we have have been going to the Caribbean and Mexico and staying at All Inclusive resorts for 35 years. This is our least favorite. We have been there a week and are just returning today. The staff is friendly for the exception of the wait staff. Food is ok. The Italian is the best for food and service and NORMALLY it is our least favorite. All of the room and resort furniture is equivalent to cheap outdoor furniture. We stayed at the adult side and there was only one pool. They need more as it was way too crowded. They had hundreds of lounge chairs squeezed TIGHTLY together. You literally had to get into the chair by crawling from the bottom. You were only allowed one pool towel per day. Due to being eco friendly……it was soooo hot in all of the restaurants and very hard to sleep in your room. We understand it is hot as we have been coming to the Caribbean for 35 years, but all the more reason to have it a little cooler. Hamlet at the pool bar was great and also Maria and Nilsa in the lobby. We had a good time but will not be returning.
I highly recommend. My family will be back!

Just returned yesterday from an excellent stay at Ambar! We had a swim up room that faced the main pool and was right next to Las Brisas for buffet dining. My one complaint was that I paid for a corner suite but was told that it was "not available" due to some maintenance issues. Yeah, sure... Anyway, the suite we were changed to actually worked out better and we were compensated for the change. The room was clean, cooled off and ready to go. Taking advice from this very website, we booked our restaurants a couple of days in advance of arrival and so we were able to experience Portofino, MEATS, Makido and Limbo. They were all very nice but Portofino was our favorite of the restaurants to eat. If you decide not to eat at one of these restaurants, the buffet in Palmyra is always available for dinner. We loved every bite of food at Ambar no matter where we ate! Drinks were aplenty at the pool, restaurants, beach, etc. Music was always playing, celebrating was always happening and service was always servicing. Everyone we encountered from the front desk to the restaurants were very friendly and accommodating. Shoutout to Watson our butler and to Aleudy who was one of our servers as we did one evening dinner at the beach. Truthfully, everyone was very warm, friendly and helpful. Tipping always helps and is just a kind gesture but the service is still A+ without it. We plan to return without a doubt to Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar. And we would recommend it to anyone that asks. Splurging a bit for a room with a swim up pool is totally worth it.

Good and bad Hotel in general was good *Al a cartes food cold 2 hrs to get main meal Walked out after that didn't bother with dessert served that as we were walking out *Room was deluxe suite well if it was deluxe I would hate to see what they think is normal We had noise from 3 am with Larry's wagons delivering down to beach restaurants all I can say is our room was on the tradesmen entrance to hotel *shower leaked no nozzle button to get overhead shower to work * plug socket on wall for hairdryer was not fixed to wall hairdryer plug was actually melting it took 2 days to get socket fixed *there was something stuck on top of bedside table *walls were painted over where they had drill holes in also where there were marks on wall painted over this room was not what we paid for * butler service we were there 4 days before we saw a butler he was off sick not his fault but there was a replacement who we never saw no one answered the phone when you rang *we only asked for water Pepsi light and vodka in our mini bar as we did not use the others and only requested Pepsi light as my husband is diabetic 5 days out of 14 we had 1 bottle as apparently they kept running out also water we went 3 days with no water I'm sorry to say that this is definitely not luxury and not worth the money save it and book somewhere else Good points *animation fabulous Onel and crew shows were brilliant *waitresses in lobby bar fantastic Veronica, yadlika hope I have spelt it right and the other waitresses that I can not remember there names Miguel front of house manager and Jesus bar manager you were brilliant always went that extra mile always pleasant and polite Came to checkout it went smoothly was pickup 20 minutes before to go aquamarine lobby for transfer to airport pickup was 1.40pm at 3pm we were still waiting for transfer then a minibus turned up baring in mind there was 14 people waiting it had 2 seats available then another coach turned up said he would take us but to leave our bags at aquamarine and someone would bring them to airport don't think so then another coach came and all three drivers were standing arguing for ten minutes it was the lobby guy from aquamarine who came and put our bags on coach 2 as not counting mini bus and said for us to get on the bus we got to airport an hr before our flight when we said how would we get our case at airport the driver actually said I don't know like we would leave them this is not a find a fault review this is what happened
