Overall a lovely stay
We had the pleasure to stay for 2 nights at the AX Seashells Resort. Check in was very slow, there was only 1 member of staff at reception and people were seen queueing significantly. We were notified at the desk of a 2 Euro charge for each pool towel as well as a deposit. This is not something that you would expect from a 4 star property especially when being told the charge is for the laundry. They could have worded it differently by telling us that its an eco friendly hotel. I feel you either want to offer the service or not. To top it all up we could not post the charges onto the room account but the receptionist told us to settle this in cash, so I had to go out of the hotel to withdraw money and queue back to be served once again. Thankfully the ATM machine was right opposite the hotel. The room was inspected as the Tv and fridge were not working and we had to report this twice to reception in order to get this fixed which took a number of hours. The coffee creamers which were left in the room were expired. However when it came to the cleanliness of the room, the score would be top. We were luckily upgraded to a beautiful 2 bedroomed renovated family room on the back side of the hotel. In the morning we were woken up early by the neighbouring dogs barking. Some areas within the hotel are a bit outdated and should be renovated. We also dined at Cheeky Monkey, and though there was a small issue with the kids order, this was sorted out immediately by the staff. Cocktails were amazing and so was the pool service. The pool area is very nice and kids friendly, although in need of renovation. It would be a good idea to space out the sunbeds in order to adhere to the social distancing. On a positive note, the area is kept clean, and staff were seen sanitizing the sunbeds. Overall a lovely stay, but with a little bit more attention to detail and ownership I am sure you will improve the rating and expectations of guests. All the best and thanks once again Ruth and Robert
Could not fault!!!
We booked a deal with all inclusive for this hotel for a week. Check in was quick and swift- we just made dinner and went exploring. The pool bar staff can’t do enough for you as long as you’re patient and friendly. I did see a few people react badly in the dining room and at the pool bar. The set menu for lunch was fab, had seafood, pasta, burgers and chicken on it. Drinks were beers and selected spirits and mixers. Our room was out the back but was very quiet. All staff members were great and the air con shuts off when you open the main door and patio doors so if you stay here, please bear in mind. Cleaners do an exceptional job too, always friendly and managed to come around the same times each day. With the current circumstances, we were happy to get away and not be cancelled! Thank you very much- we would love to return next year! Ps cafe del mar was 10 mins walk around the coast to watch the sunset- stunning!!!
Not to be repeated
We wanted to stay here for 2 nights over the Bank Holiday. I reserved with them directly over email and had explained that it was a nice local staycation for my girlfriend and I and that we would like early check in and late check out. We waited over 20 minutes to check in with just one family before us and as the only girl on the desk the queue built significantly behind us. We were told it is a €2 charge for pool towels as well as a deposit we could not charge to our room and every time we wanted the towels changed it was another €2 charge - not what you expect from a 4* hotel! At reception they are also the first hotel I have seen not to have clean and used pens separated and the receptionist gave us (and everyone else) her pen to all use on check in which we didn’t think was Covid friendly. Our room was not ready for early check in as requested so we had to wait to be called in the lobby. When we got to our room despite asking for a double bed we were given a twin - easily rectified had the 4 calls to reception and guest services not gone unanswered. We went downstairs to ask in reception to find out the reason she hadn’t answered was she was still alone with a queue of about 6 people to check in. We requested the layout change and it took over 2 hours to be done. The stay was just riddled with lots of small issues, the juice at breakfast was undrinkable, our late checkout again was not available, the quality of the food and drinks by the pool was under standard. The common areas were dirty and stained and even our balcony (with sea view) was tired and in need of an update. We were given a spa voucher on check in they wouldn’t honour for our package we chose and the woman there didn’t wear a mask while attending to us. Overall, an average 3* hotel but not of the standard we have seen all Summer against the other 4* hotels in Malta.
Another great stay at our favourite Hotel!
Just back and currently self isolating after our holiday in Malta! Our 7th consecutive year at Seashells Resort at Suncrest! Despite the COVID 19 situation, we all had a fantastic time! The hotel was very well equipped to cope and from check in onwards, we all felt safe and comfortable that the staff were in control and ensuring the levels of cleanliness expected were maintained at all times. Our sea view family suite was excellent as it always is, and the view for sunrise is simply stunning!! The new assisted buffet service was very well controlled and when the additional mask requirements were introduced, guests were happy to comply. The food was excellent as always, and together with the cocktails at Cheeky Monkey’s, contributed to me putting on a stone in weight in 2 weeks!! The poolside lunches were excellent on the AI basis, and often 1 meal would be enough for 2 of us! Great that they introduced the option to have evening meal at Cheeky Monkey or Luzzu, and both were great too! Thanks to the pool staff, the Poolside was well cleaned and maintained, and social distancing of sun loungers was encouraged. Unfortunate that due to the situation there was no evening entertainment, but I’m sure this will return for next season. Great to see Cesar at the head of the animation and he and Claudia did a great job in keeping both adults and children occupied and happy throughout the day in the pool area (Better luck next year in the 🏓 though Cesar! 😁). I was there with my wife and our 12 year old daughter, who met many friends there, as we all come back year on year! We have all arranged to come back again, same time, same place in 2021! Looking forward to it already! Thank you to all the team for another fantastic holiday! Alan, Siobhan and Isabella Cauchi
Just about to finish a weeks stay here , The positives - very clean , comfortable bed and shower hot . Lovely sea view . Lunch excellent at family pool bar . Now the negatives which I hate to say , the service here is shocking . The staff just stand and watch and do not have a clue what they are meant to be doing .They have very little understanding of English or if you ask a question about hotel they have no clue .For e ample I asked if all inclusive available at Luzzu pool and was told hang on I will check !? The pool areas are lovely just a shame about service, let’s this hotel down . You can eat at the cheeky monkey and Luzzu as part if all inclusive but this wasn’t made clear to me at check in . Bus stop across road takes u to all places €2 a journey or buy multi journey travel card . I appreciate we are in middle of pandemic but there was no evening entertainment at all and I think some live music would have been nice . The assisted buffet wasn’t great often waiting to be served . Overall lovely clean , comfortable well located hotel but management really need to need to sort out their staff and service .
