Disappointing
Our 5 night stay at L’Hotel Quebec was disappointing to say the least. To start, our room was to be on a non-smoking floor but I’m quite certain this wasn’t enforced, our floor reeked of smoke no matter what time we were coming and going. I can appreciate the efforts of the cleaning staff during Covid 19 and the measures put into place but the pool being manned by teenagers to control numbers didn’t seem fair. The pool was overrun no matter what time of day and it was clear that limits weren’t being enforced but if I was in the shoes of the teens asked to control limits it would likely look the same. We stayed far away from the pool and didn’t use any of the facilities it just wasn’t safe to do so. Also, our room wasn’t very clean for a room being used during Covid-quite clearly the comforter between two sheets-not in an actual cover had never been washed-it was full of spills on both sides-it was just gross. The food wasn’t great either-there are many great places to eat near the hotel save your money for them. I wouldn’t return.
Great for kids!
This was our first time at this hotel and it was a hit with us and our 2 little boys. Many activities and the restaurant food was good. 3 nights was not enough to take advantage of what the hotel had to offer and do activities in Quebec City though. 1 or 2 more days would have been the best as I feel we could have done more around the hotel to take advantage of what they had to offer and feel better for the price that we paid per night.
don't book at the l' hotel quebec
We were told we will receive breakfast with our package and did not. When we approached the manager, she said that she could not do anything and that we had to buy our breakfast. We asked for towels and soap , they took more than half an hour to bring them. Instead of face soap we received a bottle of industrial liquid soap in a big bottle. The choice of tea in the room was very poor, only camomile tea available. Noise in the room from guest above running and dragging chairs at 6a.m in the morning and the front desk person said she will look into it and she did not. She had forgotten and lied saying that no one was picking up the phone. When we called the guest immediately picked up the phone and we had to tell the guest not to make noise. The arcade was lousy and there were no prizes or points to redeem and win incentives. No one came and asked us what we want when we were standing in front of the restaurant waiting to go in. We got fed up and left. We booked ourselves in the holiday inn express at the side of this hotel and received fantastic treatment, lovely packed breakfast, the only thing is that the pool at this place was not functional. The staff of lhotelQuebec and their customer service stinks. I don’t recommend this hotel , unless you don’t mind inconveniences and lack of professionalism. Also don't book with the jarohotels group as they promise things and later say that they have no authority to make any changes etc or provide breakfast and it is the hotel manager who has to make this decision, whereas the hotel manager says that the jarohotels group has to make the decision. All suck!!!!!!
Horrible service
We were told we will receive breakfast with our package and did not. When we approached the manager, she said that she could not do anything and that we had to buy our breakfast. We asked for towels and soap , they took more than half an hour to bring them. The people of Quebec are racist and their customer service stinks. I don’t recommend this hotel , unless you don’t mind inconveniences and lack of professionalism.
Not what we expected
We spent one night at the Hotel Quebec last week. We were disappointed... I paid $315 for the night taking the Forfait Gourmandise. Definitely not worth it. They even charged us extra for this Forfait as it was in the holiday period (usually $245.99). The maitre d'hotel was too busy sitting people in the restaurant than to take our order for our pizza for the room in person. The assistant manager of the hotel had to come to his rescue as he didn't even pick up the phone when we called from the room as he had specified while discussing the order in person. He did mention they were going to change the way they run the restaurant...maybe wait a bit before going or get there 30min earlier as you will be waiting... The pool area was beautiful with the tropical plants and the band playing. However it is too small for the amount of people staying in the hotel. The amusement park and slide area for the kids is suitable for ages 8 and under ; my 10yo could not go through the maze of tunnels. There are plenty of activities for young families but not enough for the older kids (and I don't want to pay more than I did for my kids to go play on the arcades $. Bottom line: don't go there if your kids are over 7-8yo and get the specials in the restaurant instead of taking the Forfaits. Definetely not worth the $$$ they demand.
