Good views, average decor

Reviewed 17 october, 2021

The views to the lake from our 2nd floor (first floor for North Americans) is nice. Room is sizeable, but the decor is quite average. It just felt like someone just went table, check, chairs, check, without giving too much thought to aesthetics. Everything feels a bit dated. The bed is nice and large though. There's unlimited WiFi, sometimes it's fast, other times slow. It's about 10min walk to lakefront so it's reasonably convenient, and especially after eating a good meal it's nice to have a short stroll back.

Lovely stay sadly shortened by lockdown

Reviewed 21 august, 2021

We had a comfortable warm room overlooking the lake. Although a main road runs in front of the hotel, you could hardly hear any traffic noise in the room. When the lockdown started very tasty and well prepared breakfasts were delivered to our room door. The staff on reception could not have been more helpful and kept us very well informed regarding changes necessitated by the lockdown. We would certainly stay here again on our next visit to beautiful Queenstown.

Wonderful views and hospitality

Reviewed 4 july, 2021

First thing you notice when you arrive at this hotel, is the gorgeous views of the remarkables and Lake wakatipu. We had a lake view room with a balcony, which we didn't really use, but it would be nice in summer. The service at this hotel was impeccable. It is an older property, with some cool retro decor, but the important things have been replaced and they get the balance right. The beds are lush ! pillow tops with the pillows beautiful as well,. The room had fresh paint and was very clean. The bathroom was clean (shower only). The view from the balcony is wonderful, the remarkables are a bit harder to see from the balcony due to the walls on either side. We had a cooked breakfast included, which was ok, quality could have been better. We had room service once, and again the food was just ok. The location is better with a car, as the walk into town is quite vigorous on the way back (all up hill). We aren't fit though, so for others it might be more manageable. The hotel is excellent value if you get a good rate. I couldn't fault the hospitality , the front desk staff greeted us every time we entered the lobby. Housekeeping was good. There is a spa there that you have to book ( we didn't use). One of the lifts was out of service whilst we were there, which wasn't too big a problem unless you had to access the restaurant.

Average

I would not say 4 star although star ratings are distorted these days. Deco is a bit tired. Our room kitchen floor was sticky. Perhaps just forgot to clean. Bathroom had black dirt in grout. Shower pressure was low. We had room service food which was average as well. But perhaps it is what you pay for. The view of the lake however was amazing. Staff friendly. And apart from above mentioned items the room was tidy and satisfactory. Very close to town. For us it was good for 2 nights stay.

Reasonably priced but very tired

Reviewed 22 june, 2021

This hotel was l reasonably priced for a two bed apartment and had a lovely view. However while the kitchens had recently been updated, the rest of the room/hotel was very tired. All the furniture had lots of marks - the photo included is in the hotel lobby which did not make for a great first impression. Additionally it was very cold in the rooms, we weren’t in the dead of winter but even with the heaters blasting we definitely felt the chill.
