Spent nearly a week here at the beginning of July. Didn't find it in the slightest remote or isolated - park at the top and the cable car (no not scary) whisks you down to the bottom.... if you want to go out in the evening (and miss those sunsets??) then Nelio the lovely cable car operator will pop back to take you back down. Great food in the restaurant and after 6 or 7pm? You have the place to yourselves as any day guests have gone by then. Perfect.
Beautifull and Breathtaking

Very beautiful place in Madeira. Only achievable by boat or cable car (cabel car is a little bit scary). Ancient priests farm. Very quiet and colourful fauna with several banana trees. Has an average quality restaurant.
Absolutely out of a dream and highlight of Madeira

We stayed here 2 nights and it was absolutely lovely. Everyone at Faja dos Padres is really nice and takes very well care of you. The place is one of its kind as you won't find much places like this with such great beauty, relaxation and quietness. The villas are clean and comfortable. Food in restaurant is one of the best we had in Madeira and breakfast tops. Fresh farm fruits, juices and vegetables. Everything about this place is just awesome and if you can manage, do not let your Madeira trip happen without a stay at this place. 2 to 3 nights would be perfect if you are worried that it will get too quiet and isolated for a longer while. You can only reach here by boat or 3 min cable car ride (not a problem at all). Car goes till outside the cable car. There are lots of lizards around on the farm (generally in Madeira) but they are small ones and would not bother you. We did not see any inside the rooms. If you want to be close to the nature, ocean and relax, this is the place to be.

How to start? The entrance to this place is already breathtaking, the elevator brings you to a small advocate, banana plantage dotted with with 8 small cottages. Simpel but beautiful. With beautiful views over the sea. A lot of privacy. The restaurant offers simpel but very tasty food. With Ermelinda running the place very well. Nothing to complain? Well the breakfast is every day the same, that could be better. And the (instant) coffee they serve by the breakfast is bad. But that's futile, not important compared with staying in this beautiful setting. We come back some day
It's all about location

We had a stay here in October 2014. Before we booked we read a lot of reviews so we knew about the stairs (although they feel much higher when your climbing them) and the possibility of bugs. The accommodation is okay. There is enough space for 2 adults and 1 baby (1yr old). It's mostly the location that makes this a nice place to stay. At the restaurant they didn't had a baby chair so we used a regular chair. The biggest downside was the hygiene. Or little one crawled around the accommodation a lot but ended up with black hands and knees and loads of strange hairs on his clothes/body. At one point there was a dead roach in the living room surrounded by ants. Before we went for breakfast we reported the bug but after we returned housekeeping was gone and the roach was still there. After we called someone immediately came to clean up the roach. We asked to give the house a quick mop but she used the same mop she just used for cleaning the roach without rinsing. She really tried helping us but because of our little one we ended up cleaning the floor our selfs. Just to be really sure it was really clean. We don't mind a bit of dust or a few (dead) bugs (that's the consequence of staying in a place surrounded by lovely plants/nature). But the floor being this dirty was unnecessary. The best part was when we returned to the accommodation at night. We took the panoramic lift down and saw al these little fireflies. Absolutely beautiful.
