Fabulous Hotel in Quito

Reviewed 10 august, 2022

We stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed it very much. Fabulous and welcoming staff. Very polite and accommodating. The food at Spicy was great. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Great location. Would comeback. The gym is second to none. The pool/spa was also amazing. Cold bath, sauna, hot tub and pool.

Great Hotel Pre/Post Galapagos Multisport Tour

Reviewed 31 july, 2022

We stayed at the Mercure before and after our 10-day Multisport Galapagos Tour. We had two rooms - one for my son (15), daughter (13) and me and one for my best friend and her adult daughter. We both had different rooms pre- and post-tour but they were all lovely and clean. The staff were pleasant and we could either communicate with them in english or use google translate. We had a problem with a clogged toilet once and the staff promptly fixed the issue. Breakfast was yummy: buffet style with good assortment and omelet station. The breakfast started at 4am with omelet grill starting at 6am. Our breakfast was included. My kids and I used the pools (two cold pools and hot tub) and sauna. We were the only ones there and it was clean and fun. Thought we didn't use the gym it looked 5-star for equipment and weight selection. We did check our luggage on the last day while we were on a 12 hour tour to Quilatoa and had no trouble storing them or accessing them with the staff being very helpful. There is water available on every floor to fill water bottles which we took advantage of. We took several excursions and the tour operators picked us up at our hotel which was handy.

Had a bad experience

Reviewed 18 july, 2022

We came home from dinner to find someone sleeping in our daughters room and her key no longer worked. Facilities are closed mondays- so don’t plan to use advertised fitness center or spa. Bad part of town.

BEWARE! Don't store your bags or luggage with them!

Reviewed 24 may, 2022

First off, DON’T STORE YOUR LUGGAGE OR BAGS WITH THEM! My backpack came back soaking wet–with my laptop and ipad in it. Yeah, allow the sheer panic to run through your veins for a quick second. Look, I get that mistakes happen, but here’s what really makes my blood boil…when the staff refused to take responsibility for it. A “sorry” won’t just cut it. Clearly, something happened while my bag was in their care, and rather than admitting fault, they pointed the blame on me. Um, excuse me? Yeah, let’s not even go there. So right off the bat, let this be a reflection of their staff and service--I'll leave you to be the judge of that. I wouldn’t say this is a “5-star hotel”. Compared to the Ritz or Four Seasons, this is more like a 2-star or 3-star at best. For Ecuador, I suppose it would be considered a “5-star”, BUT don’t expect the same 5-star accommodation or standards as a real 5-star hotel because you will be in for a rude awakening. Aside from the backpack incident, the food is decent–they have gluten-free options, which I’ll commend them for. Rooms are nice, but like others have commented, bathrooms could use some work. Overall, not a bad place to stay, but again don’t have your hopes up, and AVOID STORING YOUR LUGGAGE OR BAGS AT ALL COSTS.
