Good and quiet location
We enjoyed this quiet location. Just short drive to our favorite place when visiting Redding CA: The In-N-Out Burger. Our room was clean and the staff was very friendly. We always stay here when traveling through to CA from WA.
Stay Away! So many Covid violations! Not Safe!
Receptionist had her mask completely off. No plexiglass shield. No food safety protocol. How is an open breakfast buffet allowable when all restaurants can't have indoor dining?? Three families ate breakfast in the lobby w/ their masks off and the receptionist encouraged us to eat breakfast there. Nope. We got breakfast somewhere else and were terrified the whole time we stayed. If we hadn't arrived so late we would have found a new place to stay. Oh, and the cleaning lady on our floor wasn't wearing a mask. This is why CA is the epicenter of the pandemic! Disgraceful
En route travel
Room 230 was clean and comfortable until awakened by traveler above arrived around midnight and woke us. Sounded like Bigfoot arrived and couldn’t get settled. Hard to tell what they were doing, but it sounded like a mix of big and little feet endlessly pounding the floor. After an hour, I called the desk who said they would call them. It’s now 2:00 a.m. and I guess someone needed a long shower. I’m wide awake and angry that my sleep was interrupted and will not be rested for driving. Admittedly, they needed a room, but some people have no consideration of others😡. This has probably been the worst night in a hotel that I can remember.
Excellent choice in Redding
This is my second time passing through Redding. My first trip through I "splurged" and stayed at the Sundial Bridge Sheraton which -- while a wonderful property -- loved to take all of my money. This year, I was not looking to spend that kind of funds. I was very lucky to come across this option within the Marriott app with a favorable AAA rate. As a Titanium Elite, I stay in a lot of properties (even with COVID-19). This year especially, you can tell the good properties apart from the bad ones by how they respond to the changing environment. Many properties within the portfolio are using the pandemic to excuse everything from poor staffing to missing room amenities and much more. This hotel doesn't do that. In fact, they've doubled down on safety and security in my estimation. At check-in they had individually wrapped cookies and bottles of water out for guests that need. As a titanium elite member, I was offered both the points and a market item (you'd be surprised how many hotels are choosing not to offer a market item as an option since Marriott isn't making hotels pay out compensation to guests that get the shaft). Check-in was efficient and pleasant. My room was upgraded to the Garden Tub suite. Tubs can sometimes be kinda gross and hard to clean. This one was immaculate, though. I think it's well worth the few extra dollars they ask for this room. I had some bath salt in the car and it was heaven to open up the bathroom windows and watch TV from the tub. The bed was very comfortable and had more of a memory foam type support to it which I don't normally see from a Fairfield. It was a nice touch. Road noise was suble from the third floor and didn't hinder my ability to get a good night's rest. This is a hotel that simply is doing everything right. Clean rooms, extra amenities, personalized service. I've always told people the best hotels in the Marriott portfolio are found in the select-service (budget) category. This hotel confirms my claim. Thanks, Fairfield Team!
Covid risky and poor smoke filtering AC unit
Stayed one night en route to Crater Lake. Guests without masks a problem, but much worse was the cleaning staff in the hallway without masks also. Severe smoke in room with AC running, had to go without for the night with near 90 degree temps at 9pm. Try to find a different location if concerned with Covid risk and during fire season.
