Ten minutes from centre
A well organised and efficient hotel - possibly more angled towards the business visitor but more than ok for tourists ready to do the brisk ten minute walk to the old city. Large comfortable room, good breakfast. Helpful staff, apart from advising the best way into town, lent us a kettle (no tea/coffee available in the room. Wheel chairs are catered for too although the ramp is tucked away at a side entrance.
Friendly staff, quiet and pleasant stay. Decor and outside of hotel can be misleading
My husband booked our stay at Avia because he had a conference at the Marinaforum conference center just a few KM down from the hotel. From the outside it looks like a very old hotel that is nothing special and I personally wouldn't have chosen it if I had booked the hotel for our Regensburg stay as I feel that curb appeal says a lot about how much you care about your business. That being said our stay at Avia Hotel was very good. The staff were super friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed a taxi. It was a very quiet hotel, we were likely the loudest there because we had our 9 month old who was crying loudly as she was sick most of our stay. The decor inside the rooms is also outdated and the bathroom was quite small with the shower door hitting the sink when you try to get in and out but we had such a good time that it didn't seem to matter. The breakfast in the mornings at the restaurant was also good. Sadly we didn't get a chance to eat dinner there but will try it if we ever come back,.
Nice hotel, ideally located if travelling by car
We needed a hotel which was close to the autobahn, provided parking and early breakfast, as we had a long drive ahead of us the next day. The Avia Hotel met all these requirements plus very pleasant, clean, large rooms. The receptionist was one of the friendliest I have encountered, eager to please and help out with directions to a good, typical German restaurant, which we asked for. The hotel is about an easy 15 minute walk to the city centre. At €116 for a twin room, including free parking and ample breakfast, it is very good value and tastefully decorated. Ignore remarks about it being "more appropriate for over 60s couples to spend their time there" (I am not sure how a hotel is put into that category)!
Nice hotel for a UNESCO city
Although this hotel is out of the main city it has many good points! The room I had was large and well appointed. The staff were very helpfui and the breakfast excellent. The restaurant had a good menu and the food good. I arrived by train and taxi but I noticed the hotel had a good park.
Tasteful room at a reasonable price
This is an older hotel and the outside has nothing to recommend it. It's in an are that's not very interesting, a little too far from the historic city to walk, unless you are a lot younger than we are. The room had been redone and was very pleasant. It was somewhat larger than we are used to in moderate European hotels. The room was clean and the bed was fine. The room was very quiet at night, which is important to us. They have quite a large parking area but when we got back from dinner at 7pm there was only one space open. I don't know how they accommodate people who get there after the lot fills up. Breakfast was very good. We would stay there again.
