Shelter from the Storm

Reviewed 7 december, 2021

Storm Hotel was a great place to stay in an ideal location for walking to the City Centre, the Harbour and all bars and restaurants. It is also situated directly opposite Bust Stop 12 which was so convenient for excursion pick ups. The breakfast was excellent with a quality buffet and lots of choice. The hotel even provided coffee and croissants when we had a very early departure time. The room we were allocated was very spacious (it was a disabled room which we didn't request but it was particularly large for access purposes). Very warm and clean and robes and slippers were also available. Storage was an issue as there was a tiny space for hanging garments and absolutely no cupboard/shelves or drawers. This meant we lived out of our suitcase for 4 days and nights and this was very inconvenient and messy- however we coped. I believe more coat hooks on the walls/behind the doors would help this situation even if extra furniture was not practical. Our activities were cancelled on our last full day due to a storm warning which was particularly severe. The staff were great with recommendations for 'safe' activities which we took advantage of so we didn't have a wasted day. I would certainly stay here again...but be warned Reykjavik is the most expensive place I have visited!!

I am very pleased that I chose this hotel. From the moment you arrive and are greeted by the lovely desk staff, to the very warm, comfortable rooms with very good showers, bathrobes and slippers to the excellent breakfast. The rooms were very clean and nice and quiet. The location was perfect for us, pick ups for our 4 tours were right outside the hotel entrance and to get to shops, restaurants and sites, were short walks. We would definitely stay here again and I miss the breakfast and comfy bed already.

Fabulous stay in Reykyavik

Reviewed 2 december, 2021

Fantastic hotel! We stayed for a week in early November & we found the hotel to be the perfect location for our city break, less than 10 mins walk from main shopping area. It's opposite bus stop 12 (this will make sense when you start booking tours) and the best part of our day was watching the tourists from nearby hotels congregate each morning to try and find their respective tour buses. The rooms were a good size with a kettle & hairdryer and they were toasty warm (perfect for warming up after long days outside) with plenty of space to dry off any wet clothes. The breakfast buffet was great, plenty of choice with hot and cold offerings and something to suit everyone's tastes. The thing that made this one of the best city stays we've had, was the staff. They were so helpful and friendly, in particular Klaudia and Rafal on reception, who were available for questions & help with phone calls to tour operators (thanks guys!!) Even the staff at breakfast were lovely and were constantly replenishing the breakfast dishes or tidying up tables. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and if we ever get back to Reykjavík, this will be the place to stay. Thanks to all of the staff at STORM!

Good Quality Hotel and Well Located

Reviewed 25 november, 2021

I stayed in the hotel for 6 nights and it was just about perfect! The staff were very friendly especially in reception. Special mentions to Konrad, Isobel and the young Caribbean lady (sorry I don't know her name) who were super cool. The room was fine, great shower and comfy bed. So comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning lol. Really liked the breakfast with great selection, including porridge, bacon and eggs, yoghurt, lovely bread and even pancakes. Location is fine being a 5-10 mins walk to the central area and bus stop 12 is right outside. If you don't feel like venturing far to eat in the evening, there are maybe a dozen restaurants within a few minutes walk including the Foss Hotel right across the road, which has a buffet restaurant and two relaxing lounge bars that do nice bistro style food. The only thing about Storm Hotel that could be improved in my opinion is the addition of a coffee machine in the breakfast area, as I found the filter coffee a bit bland. Other than that I loved my stay!
