Excellent location and breakfast!!

We stayed at the Sand Hotel our last night of our winter road trip through Iceland. The staff was gracious enough to upgrade us to a junior suite which provided a nice vantage point of Laugavegur; the primary pedestrian walkway through Reykjavik. The room was on the top floor and they had utilized the sloping ceiling very creatively; it was a cool and unique room (501). One of the biggest selling points is the location where you can walk right out to Laugavegur. The challenge is more of parking, as Sand Hotel does not have a garage or parking spots; however, we were able to park in a lot (free overnight) a short walk away on Grettisgata (the road behind the hotel and parallel to Laugavegur). We were also very impressed by their breakfast offerings that included all the delicious items one could want; honestly, it’s one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in Iceland, and we’ve traveled across the entire country multiple times. Overall, I’d highly recommend staying with the Sand Hotel while in Reykjavik for the location, staff, and quality.
Stunning hotel with the best staff

I've just spent 3 nights at Sand hotel and it was a wonderful stay. Really modern and chic hotel with lovely hotel rooms. The staff were so lovely, never walked past anyone without a greeting. The mobile phone they give you is such a brilliant idea in case you can't use data on your phone in their country. We even emailed them whilst out on day trips to help us out and answer questions and they were always so quick and very helpful. Breakfast was an absolute highlight, such great choices include things from their amazing bakery next door. A real gem!
Great hotel in superb location

Booked for two nights as part of a trip to iceland. Check in was very easy, staff courteous and allowed us to use our room even though we were three hours early which was great. Room was compact, but we knew this already as had booked a small double, but it had everything you needed, was quiet at night and had the most comfy bed and duvet we have used for a long time. In fact it was so good we asked for the brand, it was like sleeping in a big cloud. Bathroom had good hot shower, soap, shampoo and conditioner in big dispenser bottles and tea and coffee facilities in room. Also a fridge and safe. Breakfast was continental, cereals, pastries, breads ham and cheese, which were nicely presented. The hotel is located right in the middle of laugever street which is the main point of interest of the area. Parking is easy to find around the back streets and cost us £7 a day, sundays free, which is very reasonable compared to parking in uk. I would definitely stay here again
Good quality in center of Reykjavik

Nice hotel in the center of Reykjavik. Breakfast is diverse and good quality. Service is OK. The room is clean and the bed is like heaven, only minus point is the one piece duvet for double bed. The reception is on for 24 hours and if you departure before breakfast time you get a small breakfast. Each room has an own mobile phone to take away while exploring the island and to make reservation in restaurant.
One of the Best

We stayed here for six nights in one of their Superior rooms and had an amazing experience. The heated floors, comfortable bed, and daily breakfast were superb. Our room faced the main street but it wasn't a problem most nights, as we were so tired from sightseeing all day that we would fall asleep and stay asleep easily. The hotel also has a small fitness room that we looked at but did not use. Overall, for the price and quality, I would definitely recommend the Sand Hotel to anyone visiting Reykjavik.
