When I booked this trip I went back and forth looking at different hotels and I finally selected the King Deluxe room at the Reykjavik Konsulat. Well, I was not disappointed by this selection. This was a very well appointed room with lot of space, great lighting and storage. The king sized bed was very comfortable and I loved the bedding. There was a small couch at foot of the bed which was great to watch tv or put on your shoes. The bathroom was very well appointed with a massive shower with both a rain shower head and a handheld unit. The expresso machine got quite the workout as well. I was also fortunate to have a small balcony (see pics) that was not advertised as they said they cannot guarantee a room with one. Location: this hotel is in the heart of city center. You can walk quickly to so many places - it's about 5 minutes to the scenic waterfront walk. There are so many good places to eat and drink within a few minutes walk. The "penis museum" is right next door also and I'll be reviewing that as well. I had a few minor suggestions for the hotel and included them in the survey they sent me. Well 15 minutes after I submitted the survey I received a personal e-mail from the hotel manager thanking me and saying they will review everything I suggested - you don't get that type of service many places these days. Lastly, I want to thank Margarita who checked me in and helped on a few occasions....service that was above and beyond!
Perfect hotel for the Iceland tourist

Everything about our stay was perfect… can’t recommend it enough!! Service was amazing, always happy people happy to accomodate and help you. The included breakfast is a surprising add-on because it is actually a full breakfast, and for ALL dietary requirements. They have everything from vegan to gluten-free, and everything in between. Honestly recommend 10 out of 10

This hotel is the epitome of 5 ⭐️ ! Absolutely incredible staff from front desk, bartenders, and all wait staff at breakfast and dinner. Cozy feel in spacious guest rooms. Nightly social hour which included free drinks and snacks. I’m room complimentary drinks (soda/water/juice) and snacks replenished each day. It was an absolute pleasure to come back to hotel each night after our daily adventures. Perfect location for all tourist shops, restaurants, and bars. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will definitely be booking again.
Comfortable, great breakfast, helpful staff

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. We found it very comfortable, quiet and luxurious. The breakfast was great - huge selection. We also appreciated being able to have breakfast when we arrived even though we couldn't yet check in. We also enjoyed the complimentary drinks over happy hour in the evening whilst sitting next to a fire. The best part was the 'bath house' in the basement. It had private showers, a lounge area, a sauna and a hot tub. It was great for when we arrived early in the morning and wanted to freshen up. We used the hot tub several times and had it completely to ourselves. Margarita on the front desk was a big help when our taxi didn't take credit cards.
Quite nice but spoiled by the last day

Overall, quite nice. Room was modern and clean, if not a little on the small side. We found the bed a bit uncomfortable, with pillows that were reaching the end of their lives, but the hotel did try to resolve this when we asked (we were given some... Slightly... Better pillows). When one of our tours was cancelled due to bad weather, the receptionist was able to give some great advice about what to do and see in the city at short notice. We really appreciated this. The included breakfast was also very nice. However, this good experience was ruined a bit on our last day. We had booked a taxi via reception to take us to the airport at 4:45am. The person who booked it for us assured us that the taxi would be on time or early. We were downstairs and ready on time. In the end, the taxi was over 30 minutes late. We weren't the only people waiting for a late airport taxi either. This, of course, isn't hotel's fault. It is the taxi company's fault. My complaint, however, is with the total indifference of the hotel receptionist to the situation. Although he did ring the taxi company to "confirm the booking" (not to ask why they were so late!), that's all he did. When I anxiously enquired, he only said "it's confirmed" and "it's not a problem at our end". When I asked how often taxis are over 30 minutes late he just replied "yes, sometimes". When I asked about calling a different taxi company, as we were increasingly worried about being late for our flght, his response was just that he couldn't do that. He could not have been less interested. If I ran a hotel, and the taxi company I used to take guests to the airport at early hours of the morning was frequently 30 minutes late, I'd use a different company! Id also have my staff show some concern and be a little proactive (like trying to find another taxi), instead of just stating that it wasn't the hotel's problem. A stressful and frustrating end to an otherwise enjoyable stay.
