Disappointing
I've always had really good experiences staying at a Holiday Inn Expresses, but I really can't recommend this hotel. Although the room was relatively quiet and the beds comfortable, the room was dirty and there were a number of maintenance issues including a deadbolt that only worked periodically. I could have lived with all of those things, but what what was most upsetting was that the hotel would not hold our bags after we checked out. So instead of spending our last day being tourists we sat in the hotel lobby for a few hours and went to the airport 4 hours before our scheduled departure. Providing customers with a good experience is clearly not a priority for this hotel
Would Not Stay Again
Hotel is central to downtown, which may be a perk for some people. However, the traffic noise is loud and non-stop from inside the room. I was disturbed by loud car noises, loud music from cars, horns, etc all night. The parking lot is under the hotel with low clearance due to a low ceiling and some kind of pipes. It’s a bit hard to navigate due to large pillars and cramped spaces. When I arrived at the hotel there was a group of 5 men in the parking lot hanging out by a car, playing loud, angry (F-word, B-word, P-word) music from their car with the windows down. As a female traveling alone, I honestly felt a tad unsafe. The hotel staff seemed nice enough, and the room was ok, although I thought it smelled vaguely of cigarette smoke. I will not stay here again when I come to town for work.
Tries to be a 3 star but....no
Two very slow elevators but only one working. First two rooms smelled like ashtrays. The third and final room attempt was only slightly less smelly, but at least acceptable. Exactly two adult towels in the bathroom. Two. Remote batteries were dead. Refrigerator did not work. No laundry bag. Did I mention that the non-smoking policy is definitely not enforced I will not stay here again. You shouldn’t either. If I had not been driving for 11 hours before I arrived, I would have found another place to stay. Bed was comfortable. Way too many other great choices in Richmond.
Good hotel with a few minor issues
This is a good hotel to stay in if you need to be in downtown Richmond for any business. The room is good overall, however, there were a few issues with mine. First, whoever was staying here before must have REALLY needed to smoke and used the bathroom as their personal smoke room. Second, the soap dispenser in the shower was nonfunctional. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers were working. Also, someone did something on the ceiling in the bathroom which will have to be repainted. Lastly, your breakfast overall was good, but the pork sausage links were a bit funky for me. Whomever makes those things overground the meat inside. Correct these issues and you'll have a 5 star rating from me.
Fantastic
Great hotel... appears to have been recently renovated. Very clean and comfortable. Karen at the front desk was great.... very friendly and welcoming. Same for the housekeeper on the 2nd floor. After we checked in and were leaving the room to go eat she asked if everything was satisfactory. Breakfast was great as well.. had everything. Will definitely stay again.
