Everything good with Hotel only front desk was very rude the shifted morning or day time. did not try any food - rooms was clean and great location and the parking guy was too nice and active. but will never book again as thy charge around $400 for a room with two small beds and the main reason will go again because of the day time reception very rude..

Super historic and nice. Rooms small but totally nice and up to date. Very clean. Very quaint. Location is excellent for downtown activities. Restaurants are close - next to Tobacco Company and Casa. I would stay here again.
Mediocre at best

This once gem of a small hotel is tired to say the least. There was no bellman available so we had to drag our things from the street where there is no parking ~ not even a 15 minute slot for check in ~ in a busy area to a difficult to manage luggage cart we had to wheel down the street by ourselves. The room keys had to be rekeyed 6 times in 3 days - ridiculous. They have NO housekeeping and will not enter your room for any reason. The towels are paper thin and the sheets cheap. The hotel is tired and in need of complete renovation. The rooms are dark and sad. The staff were pleasant enough but it does not make up for the state of the place.
From McGuire VA center to the Berkeley and back to the VA.

As I had a medical procedure and had to be back the next morning early for another procedure the Berkeley Hotel was the only one willing to work with us. Not only working with pricing of the room but making sure my stay was excellent. I highly recommend them.
These are tough times, but...

Sometimes little things matter, especially when you are spending big bucks. While this is a very picturesque and what I believe to be a historic hotel, we did have some complaints: * The hotel's restaurant has not been in operation for the last two years...yes, I get it...covid; but the website should indicate this fact...and it would be good to know that all lounge areas are locked (which precluded a family gathering of few guests--we all went to our room to exchange Christmas presents). Again, I understand the covid situation, but it would be good to know these limitations in advance. * There is absolutely no food on the premise (no food machines). Not a problem, as there are a number of 'high-end' restaurants in the near vicinity. * We could make coffee in our rooms, but all coffee pods were 'decaff'...and there were no tea bags. * We were kept awake until after midnight by a crying dog in the next room. The walls are not very sound proof. I was not aware when we booked that dogs are allowed in residence. So, overall, we were not totally displeased with the hotel. The staff was nice, and apologetic about the dog situation. But, had I know these things in advance, I probably would've booked a hotel elsewhere. I feel that the quality did not equate to the price.
