Casa Tuxi

Very cozy place, very friendly staff. Tranquil neighborhood and close to subway station, nice family atmosphere. Reminds me of the album cover of Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66. The only thing I was missing was a refrigerator in my room. Fast and reliable. I was there in Januray 2018.

This hotel is cool, charming and as if that is not enough has a great bar. The bar is open some days at night with thematic parties (samba, reggae town, etc). Awesome place to have some fun with friends and good drinks.

I booked this casa through Booking.com as the pics looked really nice and it was close to metro for traveling in the wonderful city of Rio. Breakfast is terrible, the tables are not cleaned after people leave so you have to find plates and cutlery as the staff prefers to smoke and use their smartphones instead of helping. You really have to ask for everything and you will be very lucky if the unfriendly staff will fill the jar with juice. Rooms are not cleaned every day, towels are not provided daily, refrigerator in room is not working, staff is arrogant en not helpful, shower is broken, the bed broke, wifi should be available but is not working in the room where I am staying..... and so are many other disfunctionals in the room, ....and I can go on and on..... So one good advice.....don't even consider booking this too overrated, too expensive casa. I talked to the owner, and he promised me things would be better after 24 hours....well I am afraid his promises were forgotten two days after.

Everything about this place is bad. There is another negative feedback under topic "avoid don't go near". I do not know those people but I witnessed the events of Jan 1 occur. Food was bad. Service was horrible. We stayed for 4 days and not one day did they clean the place. DO NOT GO THERE.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights over NYE- primarily due to the price offered over the NYE high season appeared reasonable. However, it was a mistake. The rooms were full of insects- and when I asked the man who checked me in about it, he told me that the best option would be for me to buy my own mosquito repellent- I woke up covered in bites the first night- and only survived as a bought my own products. The room was not so clean, and was never cleaned the whole time I was there, the bed was hard, and it was hard to work out who worked there and who was a guest, and no-one spoke English. The place is also really noisy until late at night- don't stay here if you want to sleep!
