Great Hotel for a stop in Riva del Garda
Modern hotel with nice rooms, friendly staff and convenient parking. We stayed a couple of nights and the dinner provided with half board treatment was very good (when compared with the average in similar hotels). COVID19 prevention measures were properly followed and we were pleased to find a complimentary kit with face masks and sanitizing gel in our room. The skybar on the roof, used also for breakfast, provides excellent views of the surroundings and is great for drinks after dinner, often with live music. The city center of Riva can be reached in 15-20 minutes with a pleasant walk along the lake.
Paradise
Wonderful hotel with most helpful, efficient and friendly staff. Accommodation superb and spotlessly clean. Entertainment in evening very enjoyable and relaxing at poolside while listening to live music so special. Pool and loungers kept immaculate at all times. Restaurant food incredible especially Chef Special every evening. Cooked breakfast was available for guests with an early departure time. Hotel mini bus also available for those requiring such service.
Lovely hotel. Excellent service.
Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of staying in Kristal Palace Hotel on a tour by RivieraTravel. I chose this Grand Hotel from reading unbiased independent reviews here, so I want to share my wonderful experience. Firstly the hotel is maintained at a high standard. It’s clean, fresh and tastefully decorated. The rooms are medium sized with a balcony and a very good en-suite bathroom. The rooftop pool / bar area has stunning views of the lake and mountains. It’s lovely having breakfast there. Some days they have a guitarist playing at breakfast time. We were lucky we had the pleasure of Alla Seala who played in the style of Tommy Emanuel excellently. The courteous service offered by every staff is so welcoming. I especially wish to thank the dining staff for their hard work in making our dining experience enjoyable. Special mention to Mr.Massimo the head dining staff member. He has a good sense of humour and a pleasant manner. The hotel is about 20 minutes walking distance along the lakeside to the old town. There are shops and a supermarket close by. The old town is lovely but if you wish to explore a more beautiful old town and surroundings, a visit to Malcesine is a must. We spent a day in Verona. This city is one of the most beautiful city in Italy. You have got to keep to the “Old Town” district. It has many old buildings steeped in history. We had a very knowledgable scholar in Mr.Andrea as a guide. For me Verona came alive with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the city. We were told that the Old City of Verona is now classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The other must do trip in Garda is to go to the Dolomites. Our tour organised it and it is an experience you won’t forget. For independent travellers they must find a way to see the Dolomites it’s worth the wonder. It’s spectacular. I love the Italian Lake Districts. I have so far visited all of the major Lakes and Lake Garda tops it all. Lastly I must add that this is my 4th trip with Riviera Travel and they have been of high standard in every aspect. From booking to the trips and accommodations. On this trip a special mention to our tour representative/ guide Mr. Gian- Luca. He was caring, kind, patient and soft spoken. A perfect person for this job. Very knowledgable too.
Beautiful views from the rooftop but average food
There were some pros and cons to my stay at Kristal Palace and I’ve listed these below. Overall, I would recommend coming to the bar in the daytime here for a drink to enjoy the spectacular views from the rooftop pool/bar area. Pros: The rooftop pool and bar have the most beautiful views in the world. The lake and the mountains are just spectacular. During the day is the best time to see the views because the area is very dark at night. The hotel dinner was served on the rooftop twice during our stay here. It was like having dinner in the most beautiful place on earth. It is possible to have breakfast on the roof every morning. The option to have fresh pancakes and omelettes made to order was very nice. There was nice fresh fruit available every day. Cons: It is outside the town of Riva so it’s not that easy just to pop into town for a drink in the evening. The food for dinner was very disappointing, considering the good reviews for food left by other guests. It was quite old-fashioned and very average. Although the presentation of the food was always very nice, a lot of the food lacked flavour. It could be a better idea to get dinner in a restaurant in town as you could get tastier food. Sometimes I had fish that was nice and sometimes it was overcooked and dry. Once I had puff pastry for dessert and it was stale and dry. Steak/beef was on the menu a couple of times and this was good so I would recommend this if you are staying here. Overall, for Italy, the food was very average. The dining room is very quiet and doesn’t have any atmosphere. It would be more fun to go into the town of Riva for dinner and drinks in a livelier local restaurant. Overall, I think this is a good place to enjoy the beautiful views of Riva del Garda but not necessarily a good place to eat.
