Great family spot with little kids

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

We had a family of 5 (3 kids; 8 and younger). We rented a residence (Heritage Place) at Fairmont. Our butler, Rodrigo, was awesome. Whenever you need a ride anywhere you text your Butler and he's there immediately. We definitely will go back. I'd recommend checking availability on the beach front casitas once construction is complete as it is quite a distance (via golf cart) to the beach from the residences/hotel. The casitas looked awesome and most have their own plunge pool. They are doing some work on the property and you should be prepared to deal with this. Sushi restaurant in main lobby was great and la Laguna breakfast was very good. Recommend making reservations in advance for the new steakhouse, Tauro, as it was fully booked every night. Roberto in the heritage place residences restaurant makes amazing margaritas. (Being from Texas that's saying something). If you're staying in the main hotel it's worth taking a cart down to the residences as it's a completely different experience. On the beach, they have two hobie cat sailboats (mini catamarans). Definitely recommend doing the snorkel trip with Danielle. He will take you out about 10 minutes to snorkel and show you some good spots to see fish. Also we put the kids in the kids club most afternoons and they loved it. It's 5 and up but if they're there with a sibling some exceptions can be made for sub 5 years. The same ladies that do the KC also do babysitting at night so make friends with them if you need a night out sans kids. Overall great stay and if you've been to the four seasons in punta mita it's very similar but the beach here is 1000% better.

Such a disappointment, not the same Fairmont Mayakoba

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

My wife and I had previously stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba about 3 years ago and we had an amazing stay. We were so looking forward to returning for an even longer stay this time. We would have been back sooner, but Covid. Wow, this was not the same hotel or experience at all. We knew that the experience might be somewhat different due to the remodeling, but what we found was drastically different from our prior trip and what we were led to believe in looking at the website. We found the quality of the food to frequently be poor. Two dinners were so poor we did not finish our entrees. Honestly I would have been embarrassed to serve this as a home cook, let alone a professional chef (La Playita & Tauro). We were also surprised that we frequently found items unavailable or even significantly reduced menus. We were also disappointed to see the value of the all inclusive package to be severely declining. The options at Tauro were extremely small and the Korean BBQ option is 100% not included. Previously there were a handful of menu items that were not included, and this felt reasonable and we viewed them as optional upsells. Is it really ‘all-inclusive’ if entire restaurants are not available or the majority of the menu at others? It was also obvious that we weren't the only ones experiencing these frustrations. we frequently overheard other guests complaining to managers about their disappointments in the changed experience. This was an almost comical occurrence at every meal.

Another fabulous family vacation at Fairmont Mayakoba

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

Our extended family of 14 have stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba for the past 4 Thanksgiving holidays. We never even consider changing our plans. The staff and service at this beautiful hotel cannot be beat. Friendly, warm and professional - every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure all guests are well cared for and have a great time. Fairmont Mayakoba realizes guests have options and they go out of their way to make it a true vacation. The hotel, newly renovated is beautiful and the food is superb. We look forward to our next annual thanksgiving in 2022

Thank you Mayakoba!!

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

Our experience at Fairmont Mayakoba was nothing short of excellent!! We travelled 2 couples and we all think that this was one of the better holidays we have ever had. The resort was under construction during our stay. Therefore, only 4 restaurants were available to us. We never saw or even heard the construction. It was all very well done and hidden from the guests. The Accommodations: room was excellent, clean, large, air conditioned, lots of storage/closet space The Food: Excellent! everything was to our liking. The Resort: bicycles everywhere which was awesome because one of our travellers as really bad knees and so he biked everywhere when we walked; they have golf carts that come around every few minutes - and yes!! they do show up every few minutes. The Staff: Everyone was awesome, engaging, caring; All the staff deserve to be thanked individually; A few honourable mentions - Monica down at the beach. Edwardo and his non-brother Daniel at the Yucatan restaurant and Marco at the bar for his incredible knowledge of tequila. If you want to know more about our trip - check out my husband's youTube shorts LUNCH 'n BAGGERS.

Overall a good stay

Reviewed 1 december, 2021

My wife and I stayed at Fairmont Mayakoba in November 2021 and were joined by my sister and her husband. Our party is in the 30's and 50's. Overall the stay was pretty good. The food here is definitely the highlight. We especially enjoyed the Mexican restaurant. The sushi in the lobby bar wasn't great and I wouldn't recommend it. We did not try the steak house. We also did not have a chance to try the beach restaurant for dinner due to stormy weather. The property is well maintained including the pool and beach areas. There was no seaweed anywhere on the beach. We had a Deluxe Casita which was well appointed even though we had the regular, not renovated one. The property is undergoing renovations at the moment. The drive from the main property to the beach took about 10-15min which would be unacceptable under normal conditions but due to the renovation, it's understandable. We saw some great wildlife along the way such as monkeys, birds, and raccoon-looking animals. We took advantage of the spa and everyone really loved the massages. Would recommend getting some treatment here. A few areas that needed improvement: 1) Service - could sit at the beach for an hour without a single server coming over. Happened multiple times. Also, check-in took over 45min which is a bit crazy. 2) Entertainment - there needs to be some entertainment. There's nothing to do at this resort after dinner. Maybe this is OK for the 60+ crowd but for those who are young, this is a huge issue. We had to take a taxi into PDC after dinner for entertainment. Get a DJ into one of the bars for a few hours of music. 3) WiFi - the connection speed and coverage was very spotty. On the beach, there was no service a lot of the time. Overall, a good stay. I would recommend this place with the caveats above.
