Perfect stop-over

We needed a hotel, north of Turin, close to a motorway, but special enough for a wedding anniversary. Villa Matilde could not have been better. Ours was a deluxe room with a private balcony large and high enough for a small group to enjoy a bottle of bubbly whilst over looking the courtyard, the surrounding hills and the ancient roofs of the nearby town. The staff could not have been more helpful, from shifting chairs for the aforementioned drinks or helping us arrange parking for cars and trailers (hint: don't try to drive a trailer up to the hotel, there's much more room lower down). The food was excellent and very representative of local specialities and we enjoyed it in the most charming covered courtyard. The reception rooms in the main building are stunning. Our friends had taken over a cancelled booking and were in a much inferior room in the modern annex at the back of the property. If you're after a special room it's worth contacting the ever so helpful general manager Marzia Giussani. She helped make ours a most memorable wedding anniversary.

"Shabby-chic" country hotel, can be nice but not for the demanding guest
Reviewed 30 august, 2021
This hotel is in an old historic country home, rather worn-down but with an indeniable charm. The hotel has a lot of potential but requires more investment to be able to attract more demanding guests. Positive: old charming historic home with a few acres of land, nice and perfectly-maintained reception rooms, helpful staff. Relaxed, laid-back atmosphere Less positive: • peeling paint, cracks, big stains in different places in the rooms • noise - the hotel is basically a big old house and sound insulation is not great if you have neighbors • really cheap furniture in the rooms, not at all in keeping with the style of the place. Minibar empty and turned off • "wild parking": if one of the very few spaces in the lot is taken, you park on the partially-mown, unlit, lumpy lawn at the rear - like parking at a music festival • shockingly deteriorated driveway: potholes all over the place • uncomfortable hard foam pillows • breakfast could be better If you are not that demanding and have a sense of humour then you may like this place.

Beautiful place, disappointing hotel
Reviewed 29 august, 2021
The place is beautiful and has a lot of charm. Too bad the hotel was such a disappointment. We booked a superior room which was dated with very small windows (nothing like the picture on their website) and very dirty (lots of dusts and spider webs). We booked the hotel specifically for the swimming pool but it was half empty and the water was not filtering so we preferred not to use it (impossible to swim anyway with such shallow waters). Diner was fine and very good (however much more expensive and limited than the menu of their website), breakfast had an OK selection but poor quality. We were very disappointed for the price paid and as we feel this hotel has an incredible potential.

Ideal homebase for regional exploration
Reviewed 3 october, 2020
From homebase Sina Villa Mathilde, we experienced a 11 nights trip in the Piemonte region. Every day, coming back to the hotel from a hike our bicycle tour or cultural visit, we enjoyed the charm and comfort of the hotel with a nice swimming pool. The staff was friendly, giving us the best advice for restaurants and activities.

Lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday
Reviewed 15 september, 2020
We had a wonderful time at Villa Mathilde, spent there part of our honeymoon. The rooms were quiet, very clean and neat. The hotel is just breathtaking, with very beautiful interior and stylish rooms. The swimming pool area is also very quiet and relaxed. Definitely a recommendation for a romantic getaway!
