Christmas Eve feast

This restaurant is tucked away in a corner of Trastevere but is well worth a visit. It was packed full of local families celebrating Christmas with a traditional set menu of fish starters, pasta and mains. We drank a local sparkling organic wine which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The menu was ambitious and very well cooked, containing creative dishes such as tuna “meat” balls (which were superb) and sea bass ravioli (to die for) and monkfish ragu as well as perfectly cooked sword fish rolls served with warm aubergine salad, grilled swordfish fillet with fresh tomato salad and beautifully grilled calamari with roasted green peppers. Desserts were also very lovely: a traditional ricotta cheese cake and a very nice chocolate brownie.
The menu was priced at 50 euros a head which was amazing value for such a delicious meal.
We will definitely be back!
Great Apartment, particularly for families

We very much enjoyed our 3-night stay in the first floor apartment at La Gensola. We have 3 teenage daughters, so two bedrooms and two baths were greatly appreciated. We did not use the kitchen much, but it was nice to have. The apartment is super convenient for restaurants, public transportation, and taxi cabs. Lorenzo was great at arranging transfers to and from FCO for our large family with extensive luggage. He also directed us to a tour guide who arranged Colosseum and Vatican tours. We much preferred this apartment to two hotel rooms, and the price was great. Pictures seem accurate. Would definitely stay again.
Too many stairs

The area in which the apartment is situated is very nice, but we had apartment 4 on the upper floor, and that was a disappointment. A very steep staircase is leading up to the apartment, and inside you will find stairs too. The apartment is very dark, and a bit smelly. There is a locked door to the neighbor apartment. As it probably was a part of the earlier apartment, it has no isolation from noise. You can hear everything that is going on - in our case we unfortunately had neighbors with a daily routine that was very different from ours. They were up during night, and we were up and out during daytime.
The WiFi is on and of - the host tried to solve this, but with very poor result.
Ok for a couple of days

We stayed 6 nites, good location. Apt had very basics (maybe we were just spoiled by other places (salt/pepper, cooking oil was in the cupboard) lighting was poor and sofa was very uncomfortable to sit in. Close to busy street, so police/ambulance could be heard at all hours. We stayed on 2nd floor, so if you have mobility issues or difficulties lifting heavy i would not recommend 2nd floor.
Alittle disappointing but doable

Great location, we were in unit 3, up the stairs although it was lovely of the cleaning lady Maribelle to help with our luggage. We arrived at 11am, left our luggage, Maribelle gave us the quick one over on the appliances, yes there’s a washing machine and dryer rack (no dryer). We were fine, although we returned at 4pm and found the kitchen lacked the ‘little’ things that I’ve had in other apartments that would have helped like olive oil, pepper, dishcloths, some dishes in cupboard were not clean when put away! It was ok, but I would not stay here again as their are other places that have the extras and even as far as basic food for a simple dinner.
