Clean spacious hotel on the heart of Trastevere
Reviewed 13 october, 2021
I stayed at the Hotel Locanda Cairoli for three nights as part of a trip to Rome, and was very happy with the service. My room was clean and of a good size, with the en-suite even including a bath as well as a shower (not something I’m used to in Roman hotels). The staff were all extremely helpful, especially Domingo, who was a fount of local knowledge. I would certainly consider the HLC as part of any future trip to Rome.

EXCELLENT!

A quiet hotel. The special staff, kind and extremely attentive to tourists. Very close to most tourist attractions and the center of Rome, they can be reached on foot. I recommend this hotel for tourists and for those with business or interests in the old center

With no hotel entry you have to enter via a very scary and not clean corridor the hotel is also not clean at all the floor the bathroom the chairs . One of my worst experience in a hotel. You can see it on the pics.

Helpful & friendly staff, very clean rooms (a pity about the tram outside)

The hotel has a great central location with all the major attractions within walking distance - and they have really nice umbrellas to loan you when it's rainy. The rooms were a little small, but cozy, and very clean. The breakfast they serve is a great spread. The staff are all helpful and friendly, and they were even kind enough to pack us a breakfast for take away, since we needed to check out before 7 - and it was really good. The only draw back (and the only reason I'm only giving 4 stars) was because of the noise from the tram that runs past the hotel. It's a bit loud, and you can feel the vibrations when it runs past - but we got used to it pretty quickly. Also, the choice of artwork was... Very unique

Tram/Tram right outside the window. Extremely noisy. Not a baby stroller or wheel chair or luggage friendly hotel.

The Hotel on the inside is cute and vintage style. Feels like a big house with rooms. The problem starts when you first arrive. As soon as you step out of the lift there are steps. And so if you have luggage or anything on wheels it’s a hassle. Then down two more steps to actually enter the door. The 2nd problem which is the MAIN problem is that there is a tram literally right outside the window. There are only 2 sides to the hotel but since it’s in a small building you will definitely feel and hear the TWO WAY tram outside the single panned window. Unless you are from NY and have the metro outside your window you will not like this at all and there is nothing you can do about it. I’m not even sure the hotel can do anything about it maybe help by installing triple panned windows? Not sure. It was a nightmare. I should have heeded the reviews that I had read about it. They were all true. Way too noisy for an adult let alone if you have kids. Location was good from the perspective of local attractions, and if your from Europe you know how small bathrooms can be to the point there is no space in the shower to put your stuff. I could live with that. Also the breakfast table is just that. A long rectangular table that all the guest have to share like one big family. A waiter to take drinks but only a simple European style breakfast. I could live with that too. Clean hotel yes. For the single rooms you will notice on the pictures provided on the websites that advertised this hotel that they did a pano picture! That’s how small it is. But that’s about it. Not sure how this is rated 4star because surly no one staying there has a proper nights sleep. Some people can live with a bad hotel and justify it by saying that they aren’t in it most of the day anyway, it’s just a place to sleep, but unfortunately with this place you won’t sleep because the problem is outside. We stayed only 1 night and went over to another 4Star hotel for a similar price and got a huge room with a patio door opening straight into the garden. Situated right behind the Roman forum. They provided an amazing selection of breakfast that anyone from around the world would love, great attentive staff. To me, Thats worth 4stars. No, a hotel doesn’t have to be large or even modern to be 4stars but this hotel definitely lacks some basics. I give it 1 star because of the noise and lack of sleep. 4stars for cleanliness and location (relating to the location of the tourist attractions) I guess the size of room just depends on what your comfortable with. Single room was too small for my hubby and our small kid.
