First, you might be standing literally at the door on the street and not know you have arrived. There is a massive door - it seems like the entire block is filled with them - leading into a courtyard, and your hotel sits on the third story. You could walk up the charming staircase but take the very European, open air elevator. Personally I would insist on a room with a balcony. They are just large enough for you to stand, but the handsome large french doors leading out are romantic. The bathrooms are ... well, small by US standards but sufficient. Storage was tight for us, but we had plenty of luggage (we were about to take a transatlantic cruise). Dining is certainly nice enough, with an airy room that looks out on the avenue. Coffee was excellent and service for me was quite friendly. The gelato across the street was outstanding, but here are two recommendations that practically made our stay. First, go down the street and you'll find a bakery/restaurant. They have a sfogliatelle that will haunt your dreams. And turn left out of the hotel, past the gelato ... on the same side of the street an excellent trattoria. What a stay. And so cheap, really. Just a short walk to that church, and from there you can get on the tourist bus to take you all over Rome. God. We have to get back there.
Character, Warmth and Value

A very warm welcome awaited us and the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient throughout our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and a good size with a decent en suite and had both a ceiling fan and air conditioning. It also had plenty of character, as did the whole hotel, with its polished floors, elegant furniture, and stylish cutlery and crockery. The breakfast room is pleasant and airy and breakfast was lovely - great coffee, fresh rolls and a good selection of continental treats including cereals, cheese, cold meats, fruit and perfectly hard-boiled eggs. The hotel can take some finding - on the third floor and accessible through a huge wooden door at street level. You may need to ring the bell to get access. However, this gives a good sense of security and the hotel is open 24/7. If you find the stairs daunting there is a lift. We found the location convenient - a short walk to the station and Metro and good shops and restaurants close by. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Rome.

We had to book this hotel once we had a problem with a reservation in another one. A great surprise! Good location, cute, friendly staff. Simple but quite romantic. Really nice short stay! Really recommended!
First visit to Rome

Beautiful small hotel in walking distance of most highlights of Rome The staff was very welcoming right away and will help you 24/7. The hotel is always clean and has a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast in Rome in general isn't what we are used to so do not expect too much. The surrounding area of the hotel is full of nice restaurants and bars. The staff can help you choose (start of with the restaurants in the street behind the hotel..amazing!). And do not forget to get gelato in the same street as the hotel!
Great base for exploring Rome

We arrived around 9pm and check in was easy, make sure to use the lift on 1st floor when you arrive, as stairs are hard going with luggage. We had booked a superior double room, I am glad we did as the room was quite small and at least we had a bit of space on the balcony to sit. Breakfast was served in the pretty room with views into the city, was basic continental breakfast and set you up for the day. We walked to all the tourist destinations from the hotel so a good location for exploring. Overall we enjoyed our 4night stay in Rome and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
