Very close to the Vatican

We stayed for one night, and were in a room with 2, twin beds. We arrived by metro, via the Ottiavano Station. As soon as we came out, we turned left (southward), on Via Ottiavano. We walked about 2 blocks, then turned left, on via Germanico. Walking no more than 2 minutes, you will make a right, on the first street you run into. The building is on the left hand side, a yellow building. We got there a couple hours before check-in time, so we went around the corner, and enjoyed a croissant & cappuccino. We were still an hour away from check-in time, but decided to see if anyone was there to answer the buzzer, and there was. The guy buzzed us in, checked us in, and showed us to the room. We were on the 3rd floor, but there was a lift... a very small lift. I was the last to complain, because I didn't feel like dragging my large luggage up the stairs. My travel companion was feeling energetic, so they stuffed their luggage, my luggage and me in the lift, and up I happily went. The room was clean, and on the smaller size, but not so small that you couldn't open 2 large luggage, and still walk about. (I got this room for under $45.00 US, so it may have been an economy room, but I would definitely chose it again.) There was a writing table, and a mini fridge in the room. It was a nicely decorated, and cozy room. The bathroom was spacious, and modernly updated, with a nice shower. The room had a window which opened out to the street. We never heard any street noise, but it was nice to open if we wanted. The room had heat control. We wanted to visit the Vatican, so we headed out the door, and walked left, down 2 blocks. We came out at the street right across from the Vatican... about a 5 minute walk. There are plenty of shops, and dining in this area. If I wanted to be near the Vatican area, I would stay here again.

could not reach them for my refund

We booked this hotel and then we had travel restrictions and canceled. Our refund never came through and we could not reach the hotel management. This is the only way we can reach them. I would never deal with this kind of establishment again.

Lovely bed and breakfast

We are currently here and it’s lovely. Large comfy bed, powerful shower, close to Vatican City and lots of restaurants and shops. Had breakfast this morning of ham and cheese toasted sandwich with orange juice and tea. I would recommend Star Vatican Rooms to anyone

Great location, lacking in a few areas

We stayed at Star Vatican Rooms, Sept 2019 for 6 nights. Our flight was scheduled for landing after check in so therefore we were subjected to late check in fee 25 Euros pre midnight (35 euros for after midnight), our flight was delayed, we arrived at 11.45pm, and were made to feel we should pay additional, I payed 30 euros. You also have to pay the tax on arrival. We stayed at room located in a different street, about 2 blocks down from the address on the website. We had the family room, so main bedroom, second room with sofa bed and bathroom. The rooms were clean, on arrival. Bed was comfy and there was plenty of storage space. There was a small fridge in the room containing 2 bottles of water, these were not replaced once drunk. There was a small kettle and two cups with coffee and tea, no milk. Non of the coffee and tea was replenished during our stay, and our cups were not washed until the final days cleaning. There was a small kitchenette outside out room, where we rinsed the cups ourselves. There is the option of daily cleaning, beds were made and used towels folded, not replaced again not until the final days cleaning. Once booked in you are pretty much on your own, breakfast is delivered on a tray, croissant each and two packets of french toast, with nutella, spreads etc, drink and juice, timing is arrnaged on arrival but was different every day. The location of star vatican rooms, on either street is ideal, close to metro and a few minutes walk to Vatican and routes for hop on hop off bus, taxis and plenty of restaurants, this was a big bonus. Overall, a clean spacious room, ideal for visiting and traveling around Rome, just a little lacking in customer service, but there is a supermarket just down the street where we went to buy coffee, tea milk etc so if you don't mind doing the same I would recommend. Also there is a safe, but we couldn't use it as batteries were flat, as were the batteries in the TV remote control. There is also air conditioning which was a god send! Simone also offered transfers to airport for additional costs, so worth asking him before you travel (the one we booked via Expedia weren't there on arrival as they closed at 11pm, we have to pay for a private taxi!)

Would avoid if possible

“Horrible experience here .. when we arrived we were told we would have to pay the city tax first even though it clearly stated online that this would be collected at checkout as it’s based on the number of days you stay. Anyways we paid this and were shown to our room, I will say they were clean and tidy and couldn’t fault them in that regard. On our last day my son was extremely sick to the point we didn’t know if we could travel home and he might need to go to hospital..we managed to see a Dr at a nearby chemist who gave him an anti sickness tablet which helped however we asked the hotel if we could have a late checkout (12 noon) as our taxi wasn’t taking us to airport to 5.30pm and it was now 11am as an extra hour for him to come round and rest could have helped, however they stated NO that we could not stay an extra hour which we thought under the circumstances was awful! We were more or less put out on the street .. they told us we couldn’t keep our luggage there until we were leaving and would have to carry it with us but if we wanted they could transfer them to storage somewhere and we would have to pay for it .. we obviously declined! We weren't even allowed back in after checkout to use the toilet .. overall horrible experience wouldn’t recommend staying here at all .. only good thing is the location but that’s about it ..
