Our fully renovated 4-star hotel in Rome - the Starhotels Michelangelo - is just a stone's throw from the Vatican. Its atmosphere is refined and elegant, its décor defined by amaranth and brown-grey with touches of black and white in the exquisite inlaid flooring of prestige marble. This classic style, with its decidedly contemporary feel, is also found in the Hotel's restaurant, The Dome, which offers a creative array of traditional Italian cuisine. Refinement modulated by personal detailing is also the style of the Hotel's 179 rooms, many of which look out on the dome of St. Peter's. Soft co...

Handy , within walking distance of the Vatican

Reviewed 20 october, 2021

We stayed here prior to a cruise. Room and bathroom was fine and we were able to check in early when we arrived. Restaurant wasn’t up to much but lots of places to eat a short walk away. Breakfast was underwhelming. Staff were helpful , it was fine for a night but wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer.

Never reimbursed me when Covid hit

Supposedly they were open and offering services..now, how am I supposed to travel to Italy when all flights are suspended and there is no way to enter the country because of lockdown? I asked for a credit to use in future trip, and no response whatsoever. Yes I bought the no cancellation rate, because we were all traveling to Italy (school and family reunion, people traveling from all over the world to meet there... I was NOT PLANNING to cancel my trip... and they neither gave me my money back nor gave me a credit to stay in the future. Very disappointed. It was not fair.

Wonderful hotel in great location

We were the first guests to stay in this lovely hotel upon re-opening, the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We only had bed and breakfast so can’t comment on the evening meal. Plenty of cafes/restaurants in vicinity. Located 10 mins walk from Vatican City. Would definitely stay here again.

Can't wait to go back

Stayed here two years ago and would have been back but unfortunately COVID hit and everything was cancelled. Loved the stay in 2018. The facility is clean, staff is friendly, breakfast was delicious and the location is within walking distance of so many places to see.

Great Hotel for a quick City Break

Reviewed 13 july, 2020

We stayed in February for 3 nights good location right next to the Vatican , we could actually see it through our room window although you do have to walk around the wall to enter so about a 5/10 min walk. Good breakfast selection and nice food in the restaurant for dinner too. There is also plenty of restaurants in the surrounding roads and a large shopping and resturant area through the other side of the vatican. Good size clean and comfortable room. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is around 40 minutes away from the airport. Whilst in Rome we also went on a Vatican tour, colosseum tour and had an open top bus pass which the closest stop was about 15 minutes walk away from the hotel along the river. This allowed us to easily get to the spanish steps and Trevi Fountain. 3 nights was long enough for us to fit in everything we wanted to but we could have easily found things to fill another day or 2 if we were staying longer.
