Hot room but Comfi bed and friendly staff
Reviewed 15 August, 2020
We stayed here for 1 night and had a good night of sleep. The room was very hot so might not be your best shot on hot summer days, however, the room was provided with a fan. Easy parking and access from the highway. Breakfast was good and good atmosphere at the bar in the evening hours. Friendly staff fast with offering help and solutions to problems.
Nice garden, no aircondition!

This hotel has a nice terras, garden and swimmingpool. But it has no aircondition in the rooms (although this is mentioned as a facility). There is a crntral cooling system mentioned in the room but that does not work. The day we stayed there the room temperature was above 30 degrees all night!

Otherwise a comfortable bedroom, but centrally controlled cooling meant that despite having the window fully open it was too hot to sleep well. There was some noise from the road with the window open. The separate toilet and bathroom lacked any kind of ventilation. Only toiletries provided was a wall mounted bottle of liquid soap.
Dog Friendly and Amiable

We were very happy with this hotel, mainly due to how dog friendly the hotel was. Our Westie Max was made to feel very welcome. There were water bowls situated throughout the hotel, and he was permitted into the bar in the evening and the breakfast bar. Usually not the case with other places we have stayed. They were also very friendly with the children, and they received little complimentary gifts, such as filled pencil cases, cups, lemonade drinks pouches and luggage tags. The room had a complimentary evien in the fridge. The bulding itself does lack curb appeal, very basic looking, but the inside is no reflection of the outside. It is clean, tidy, friendly and appealing to the tired traveller. Drinks in the bar were quite expensive, but there is a daily happy hour (unfortunately we missed this). The `breakfast buffet was very reasonable and children eat free. There was plenty of choice, and we loved squeezing our own fresh oranges for juice. The pool looked appealing, although the weather did not permit us to use it. The room itself, again clean and well kept, It contained a safe, fridge and kettle, a huge large screen tv, that connected to the internet, so we were able to stream netflix from one of our phones and watch a movie (android, we were not able to use it with apple phone) Everywhere was well kept and cared for. They also kept bees, which was a nice interest point on the way in.
Adequate, need for some major TLC

The hotel itself is fine, the restaurant is perfect (see separate review), the facilities are fine. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The rooms however are in dire need of a major refresh. Not only do you see a lot of paint cracks, grime build up in corners and showers, but with global warming it's amazing that there still isn't an air-conditioning built in. Even when it's not very hot outside, inside it's stifling. You can not leave the window open since the hotel is located next to a motorway. They do have a (noisy) fan in the room, but that does not bring down the temperature.
Our room (224) was reasonably quiet but with a fantastic view of the roof with a lot of cigarette butts and empty beer bottle (with cigarette butts) - see photo. This area has not been cleaned for weeks!!
The room has a musty smell.
It's a pity since the hotel is well situated and offers enough to keep you happy if it wasn't for the rooms - and the rooms are the biggest reason you stay in a hotel, right?
