Great stay for a wedding
Opinión escrita el 8 de Septiembre de 2021
We recently had a 2 night stay for our daughter's wedding and it could not have been better. The staff were friendly, helpful & efficient, and wedding wise it all ran smoothly. The room for the ceremony and wedding breakfast was beautiful and there was plenty of room for dancing later. We loved that there were smaller 'snug' areas for people to go and chat if they wanted to be somewhere away from the disco. The outside areas were beautiful with loads of flowers and hanging baskets, and a great garden for photos after the ceremony.
We ate in the hotel restaurant the evening before, and both then and at the reception the food was superb.
Our room was clean and well equipped, the bed comfy and had plentiful hot water (bath as well as a shower). It was great to stay somewhere with character rather than a bland chain hotel. There was also plenty of parking for guests.
The hotel is situated in the lovely village of Ruddington. We made the five minute walk into the centre of the village on the morning of the wedding to find an excellent market on the village green.
We can absolutely recommend the Cottage Hotel for anyone looking for a perfect wedding venue and can't emphasise enough how great the staff were.
In desperate need of TLC!!

My husband and I booked to stay at The Cottage Hotel for 2 nights for a friend's wedding. We opted for a suite to have a bit more space and believing we would have a slightly better room.
Upon arrival we were terribly disappointed and quite shocked at the condition of the room. The carpet was filthy, the radiators very dusty, dead bugs squashed on the door, clear damp damage, a very dated and damaged bathroom, light bulbs not replaced, tatty furniture. Not at all what we would expect for the cost! We would at least have expected rooms to be thoroughly cleaned, particularly in the current climate. I have included some images with the review. The rooms stayed in by friends of ours were in similar condition which is a shame. The breakfast was OK, but we chose to eat in a local deli the second day instead.
We will say that the wedding itself was lovely, and we enjoyed the food served at lunch. Staff were friendly, it is a pretty venue currently let down by the accommodation.
My husband did speak to a member of staff about the conditions of the rooms and was told they will be updated, but they are not worth the price tag at the moment. We definitely recommend staying somewhere else in the meantime.
Unable to make contact via phone or email. very poor service.

Can't advise anything as unable to make contact to book or inquire. Three times I was told the receptionist was on another line! Even when they were supposed to be serving lunch. Wouldn't waste my time trying again.
This place is missing a trick! Disappointing.

Perfect location, lovely old cottage with lots of original features but oh my gosh it needs a good going over and major maintenance needs to happen. Yes covid has hit places hard and theyve been closed etc but theres no doubt that these issues aren't from a more longer time period.
The website makes this place look idyllic and I really want to back it up because it has so so much potential but it's just not how it looks I'm afraid to say.
The staff were so lovely and the bar/wedding area were really nice. The rooms leave ALOT to be desired which is a real shame.
Lots of damp spots, yes old building granted, but it can be sorted, flaking paint, peeling wallpaper, really really outdated decor even for an old cottage, cracked tiles, dirty stained bath tub, random cupboard in our room that was full if wallpaper rolls?!
Our friends room was even worse. Damp again, damp smell, upsidedown lampshade, Mark's and damp peeling paint also. Massive hole in the door, skirting board not even attached, blind broken... hairs in the bath..
I really want this place to do well, it's such a lovely place and they hold lots of functions but they really need to sort the rooms out. It's not exactly cheap to stay and in total honesty I would say for the condition of these rooms id say 55 pounds with breakfast would be more appropriate than the actual price.
It could be wonderful. It need alot of attention, updating, maintenance work, cleanliness needs looking at.
This place must take alot of money with functions and weddings and as we left another wedding couple were looking around planning their day. It's a shame that their guests will be staying in bad rooms that dont reflect the rest of the place, real shame and I really hope they look at these issues because I want this place to do well.
Lovely lady on reception, blonde hair, seemed new maybe? Had dinner stains on her top as we checked in and then in the morning she was sat eating her scrambled eggs at the check in desk as we left, its just unprofessional and not a great first impression which I'm sure the owners wouldnt want their guests being greeted with. But she was a lovely lady dont get me wrong. I would be really disappointed if I knew the condition of the rooms my guests had stayed in when attending my wedding... we didnt mention a word to the bride or groom out of respect but it does need mentioning to yourselves.
This place could be the perfect cottage/boutique place and the rooms could reflect the rest of the place.
Its word of mouth from weddings where you can make alot of people return and spread the word. I think they're missing a trick with this place it's such a shame.
I want to reccomend it but the room conditions were so poor. It's not worth the money. The breakfast was nice but everything was really over cooked and coulsnt even cut my sausage without stabbing it first.. the bacon was brittle.. but all good quality ingredients which again is disappointing that the basics are there but not being executed well.
If the owners could see what an absolute gem they have on their hands and really just invest a bit of time into getting it right, it could be stunning.

Me and my partner booked in for Sunday lunch and we was warmly welcomed by tucker who shown us to a table in the restaurant. There was a good range of choices in each course. We both ended up having a starter, main and dessert; the sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and custard being my favourite!
Food and atmosphere was lovely, deffo be going back and would highly recommend.
