I booked & paid £95 on VISA, for a single Room on 09 JAN 2023 for a Performance by Claite Hamill, Singer~Songwriter on 12 JAN 2023. I arrived at 3pm to settle into my Room before the Concert, but Proprietor Luis Swann said the Room wasn't ready & would I like a Glass of Wine while it was made up? I sat by the open fire relaxing & half an hour later was asked to go to my Room. As I'd not finished the Wine I said I'd go when ready. Then somebody dropped & smashed a Lightbulb making me jump & exclaim. I was told that that sort of behaviour would not be tolerated and to leave immediately, with the promise of a Refund. A month on, after a couple of emails & a phonecall there has been nothing refunded to my Bank Account.

Went in as new chef just appointed and what a meal! We had sea bass on bed of crushed potatoes with salsa verde and it was delicious Lovely piece of fish and a range of fresh tasty vegetables all presented beautifully Under new management and the new team couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful Great to have a local back which is looking fab Hoping more people start to enjoy it again as the village needs it

Sunday Roast and open late
Reviewed 31 october, 2022
Great Roast chicken and roast beef. Smashing, trendy little pub with a great atmosphere. Was out for a Sunday drive from Sissinghurst and we fancied a Roast. Quick call to the usual hangouts and all were saying, 'Sorry kitchen closes at 4'. Reluctantly started to drive to Rye where we'd have a better chance of finding somewhere to eat. Drove past the Bell, it was open and looked super cosy. Pulled up outside and a sign said, 'Sunday roast Dinners till 9pm'. Perfect. Went inside and the pub is a cracker, warm log fire and a cheerful, red wine cheeked owners greeting. Yes, an independent pub! The pub was perfectly charming, but we noticed a lack of customers. We were told that they hadn't had a chef for weeks and the new chef had started that day. We had one roast chicken and one roast beef, but equally surpassed our expectations. If you are in the area, pop in and support a local business and have a cracking meal. Highly recommended.

A revitalised village pub highly recommended

We popped in to see if there was a meal to be had, and the chef had just been appointed that day. Rebuilding/decorations were completing and the whole place looked quirky, artful and lovely. The menu was ‘pot luck’ and absolutely delightful. Mine was a smoked mackerel starter and my wife prawn cocktail followed by lamb shank each. A lovely recommended Primitivo to wash it all down. The host and staff were extremely welcoming and the atmosphere excellent. We will be back certainly for the wine tasting and jazz evenings. Well done! It will be nice to have back in the area a place of character.

Lovely location and very welcoming. We visited as a large extended family and were made to feel very welcome and they were happy to be flexible with our dinning requests. Lovely food, drinks, service and were child friendly. High, recommended
