One night stay!
Stayed here in January. It does what it says on the tin! Budget! The only piece of advice I would give is take your own towels. The towels are paper thin and small! The shower was like an aeroplane toilet and the shower curtain stuck to me when I had a shower which was kinda gross!
Budget hotel but comfy
Room was fine for 2 adults and child. Clean room and comfy bed. Pillows too soft for us, so I folded mine in half to make it thicker :) Only downside was the small shower cubicle but that's standard for these budget hotels. No coffee making facility but there is a coffee machine in reception as well as a microwave. You will find a supermarket 2 mins walk away if you want to get yourself food and drink, and there is a bakery/cafe inside there. A restaurant is nearby as well. Free parking was a plus for us, and free wifi was great with a strong signal. Park less than 10 mins way away along with the Memorial de Caen. Overall not bad for the price.
A lovely little stay!
A small compact room which was beautifully clean - we used this hotel as just a stop off on our lovely trip back to Dieppe, and it was lovely, the staff were wonderful and ensured that we were happy with our room, which although was small, was exactly what we needed and gave us a lovely nights sleep and we woke totally refreshed for the contnuatio of our journey. Thank yoiu to all.
Cheap, clean, simple
Stayed overnight after getting the ferry from Portsmouth. It was easy to find, easy to check in, parking available. Bed and particularly the pillows weren’t the most comfortable. There’s no air con but equally the room was very reasonable. Breakfast was very good value especially if booked in advance.
Terrible Night
We booked the hotel in advance, and we arrived at 21:30 to the hotel. The automatic machine allocated us the room 212. The room was terrible: there was the window taped up with a tape on the perimeter of it, the window handle was removed so the window was not possible to open and there was a paper note attached on the glass: “Fenetre cussé, no pas auvir.” The temperature in the room was exceeding 30 degree in the room. There was no air condition in the room. I immediately went to the emergency telephone at the ground floor and called to an assistant. After long waiting a lady answered the phone and I explained the situation and asked her to change the room. I explained to the lady on the phone, that I suffer from asthma. After some waiting the answer was – “the hotel is fully occupied and the room change is not possible”, and that was the end of the call from the hotel emergency assistance. No suggestion, no word of apology, nothing. So, the hotel sold us a non-usable room and they had known it in advance. As a next step I tried to call a common assistance of Accor Hotels by cell – but the phone number was permanently busy. Then I sent immediately an e-mail to Accor assistance – no answer. It was almost midnight and so we decided to stay in the hotel. We had to wake up every hour during the night and to try to ventilate the room by opening the door to the corridor (but of course, not successfully). Really terrible night – we couldn't get asleep the whole night. In the morning, the receptionist paid us the money back on the basis of our complaint. But, it was a really trivial satisfaction: We were really tired, sleepy the whole next day. We had to change the plan of our journey and to split our home route and to spend one more night in another good hotel instead of traveling directly home - which was basically impossible after such a night. So, never more Ibis Budget Hotel Caen Nord Memorial.
