More about the hotel
I lovely little place
Only stayed here one night but thought it was lovely. Nice little village. Buildings are beautiful. Reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We ate in the evening, the restaurant was good, and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning. The rooms were simple but traditionally French and had a lovely feel to them. Wifi was good quality (i was working). Would be back
Good hotel to explore Normandy
We stayed at Le Clos Deauville Saint Gatien for 4 nights with our 15 month old. The location is ideal, as it allowed us to explore areas of Normandy and easily get to the lovely towns of Deauville and Honfleur for dinner. The hotel is quaint and simple, we stayed in a superior room so we had a balcony and a larger from for the 3 of us. The room was clean and comfortable, but the room just needed a bit of modernisation. The pool area was tired and also needed a lick of paint. But we still enjoyed a swim everyday to cool off. The continental breakfast was very good and tasty. We ate at the restaurant on 1 evening and the food was delicious, but was quite expensive when compared to other local restaurants. Our main concern with the hotel was that they didn’t really cater for babies. The high chairs in the restaurant were quite dangerous and did not have straps, 1 even collapsed when our son wiggled around (luckily we caught it in time). There was no cot in the room when we arrived and one was not even offered, we ended up using our own we had taken last minute as we are not even sure they had any?! Overall I would recommend this hotel for a few days for exploring. It is a friendly and quaint village hotel. But, it would benefit from a bit of redecoration and to improve family facilities.
Extremely rude receptionist.
Upon check in my partner (who is French) asked if there was a room available on the ground floor for convenience as we had a 6 month old baby and a pushchair. The receptionist (a blonde lady we did not get her name) rudely informed us that those rooms were another category and not what we paid for...fair enough but this was not obvious from where we were standing at reception. She did not inform us about the robes or pool towels available for guests. We had to ask her if there was a lift. Upon check out the next day she was again very rude. This was our first and last experience of the hotel. The food was not great however, our server (a blonde lady with glasses) was very pleasant and exteeemly patient with my partners elderly parents despite being very busy. We also enjoyed the heated indoor pool with our baby.
Well equipped spa hotel - three outdoor pools, one indoor.
We enjoyed a brief overnight stay at Le Clos, however, we found time to dip in the outside pool with large grassed area, interesting pool on several levels - although unseated. Hotel staff helpful, limited English spoken, so brush up your language skills! Room was fine, with en-suite facilities. Restaurant menu limited (for a teenage taste), hence we went to the lovely town of Honfleur.
Amazingly good value and a welcoming stay
Well we stumbled across this after a cock up by booking.com meant our short term arranged hotel didn't meet our original needs and we needed an alternative. This came up on the search and ticked the boxes of swimming pool, on site restaurant, extra bed for the baby etc. And we were very pleasantly surprised. It's a bit kitsch and don't get me wrong, this isn't Vegas and it could do with a lick of paint in a few places but what you get for the money is stunning. For under £100, we got a large double bed, single bed for the baby, en suite, tv etc. It comes with 3 pools, 2 outdoor and 1 indoors, games room, play area, saloon lounge, restaurant etc. We opted in for dinner and for under £100, we got a 3 course meal, bottle of wine, fee aperitifs etc. Truly great value. The breakfast though was the high point, €14 each but everything you could ever want, great quality, very fresh. The service throughout was excellent, very nice without being pushy. I wouldn't necessarily want to have a holiday here but for a short break, magic!
