Gorgeous place to stay!
My husband and I stayed here last week celerating our anniversary in the valley. Overall, we had a great time! These are the reasons we loved Wine Country Inn & Cottages: 1) The room was gorgeous. We orginially booked a garden view deluxe room but were upgraded to a garden view cottage and we were totally blown away by it. 2) The location was great. Super quick and easy to get everywhere we booked. 3) It was so quiet. It was a super peaceful place to stay. 4) Breakfast is included! We were able to get something small in the mornings before our first reservations of the day The only issue we had was that there were some cleanliness issues with the room. At check in we were told that our room would be cleaned on the 3rd day of our stay and to let them know if we needed cleaning more frequently than that. Once we got in the room, for the most part everything looked great, but we noticed a fair amount of what looked like dog hair on the floor in the bathroom, in the tub, and by the window nook by the front door. We let them know and the room was cleaned again the next day but the hair was still there so I don't think they thoroughly swept. The second night, we moved the couch and found some type of old food underneath it which was pretty gross. Also they didn't clean the room after the third day so we called to ask when they would be coming and they told us we were supposed to schedule a cleaning so it looks like there was a miscommunication there. All in all we had a great time and would come back though!
Lovely Anniversary Celebration
We stayed here for four nights and are so very happy we chose this particular inn in the country. Although everyone in California was enduring poor air quality due to the fires, we found the staff at the inn have made our stay streamline during the Covid pandemic. We never felt uncomfortable as they have thought of everything. Our room was comfortable and our views of the vineyard and the old oak trees were precisely what I was looking for. We were the only guests in the pool area, and they had a protocol for cleaning it and allowing only so many guests at a specific time. Lovely country inn and staff.
Terrible experience!
Avoid this hotel! My husband and I came despite corona for my 40th birthday. We were really excited for our romantic weekend, especially after being stuck at home for months during corona. I never leave reviews but we’ve had such a lovely vacation in Napa up until we came HERE. We paid $525 a night to book the “garden view” room. FYI it consists of one little bush and two small uncomfortable chairs. There is literally no view except dying out bushes! The room is a nice size but the noise of people walking overhead is terrible. You can hear every step. To top it off , my husband went to the front desk to purchase a bottle of wine for our room and they were missing many of the wines on their already small menu ( we will try to enjoy it despite our being uncomfortable with our room but you’d think If you were staying at the Wine Country Inn just maybe we would have to option to purchase a Cabernet which would have been much more to our liking. ) Also keep in mind - there are no plates available , no silverware , and only two hours allowed at the pool each day. With so many many other good options for hotels in Napa I definitely regret booking here .
Beautiful Location, Beautiful Room, Terrible Insulation
There are so many good things about this secluded getaway. From the moment we checked in, the front desk was very polite and accommodating. They let us store our wine as we arrived before our room was ready, not to worry as there are so many things to do near by. They did give up a little bottle of rosemary hand sanitizer too and I am in love with it. When we parked and got into our room, it was beautifully appointed, felt relaxing with the perfect fountain and outside sitting area. The bed and sheet quality were luxurious and very soft. The bathroom was perfectly lit, had heated floors, comfy bathrobes, rain shower and spacious double sinks. A small bottle of Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc was waiting for us, which we chilled and went for dinner at nearby Brasswood. After dinner, we returned back to relax and enjoy. It was still pretty early, around 7-ish. We enjoyed the wine and each other’s company. We heard a door slam above us and stomping and a shriek. Then more screaming and laughing. Lots of walking around in heels back and forth drunkenly. This continued through out the evening and late until the night. We could hear everything. We turned on music to try and drown out the noise. It didn’t help. Every time we tried to ignore the sounds coming from above, they would drop something or laugh really loudly over and over. The floors have no insulation from above noise. Would never stay in a bottom room here. Our experience was not relaxing at all, which was such a shame as it is a lovely property. But there are so many amazing places to stay in Napa and Wine Country Inn & Cottages missed the mark.
A gem in the valley!
I found Wine Country Inn and Cottages while searching for a place to celebrate my 22nd wedding anniversary. I narrowed down my choices to 3 places, and ultimately decided on a hotel with a private hot tub. However, I just HAD to try Wine Country Inn based on the raving reviews on this site and others. It’s also ALWAYS mentioned in most (if not all) of the travel articles I’ve read about recommended hotels on a vineyard setting. On a whim, we decided to stay here one night (8/1-8/2) just to see what it’s all about. (We’re from the North Bay and could entertain our whims like that!) First of all, I always make it a point to look at traveler photos because they are generally more accurate than the marketing/advertising photos. I was concerned about the discrepancy in the photos but called the hotel and they assured me that the rooms were all renovated in 2017. The new décor is very modern, with neutral tones. Beautifully done! Our room was a Deluxe Vineyard View (Room 9). Besides the sliding glass door, It had an additional side window, as well as a bathroom window overlooking the vineyard beyond the garden. On to the essentials: Bed/bedding – good quality and comfortable, nice linens, fluffy pillows Air conditioning – perfect working order and was very quiet Storage areas – closet and side tables with drawers. No chest of drawers, but it was fine for a short stay. Bathroom – A+ for having a wall-mounted magnified mirror! Would be nice to have storage drawers for make-up etc. Super WOW for the bathroom lighting (Would someone at the hotel please get back to me about those specs? They’re wonderful!), cosmetic cotton and Q-Tips provided. Grounds – beautiful landscaping (please walk around and enjoy the grounds). Understated, natural, and really very well done. Location – wineries galore in this area. Duckhorn is literally just around the corner. View from room – the vineyard is beyond the gardens. To have the vineyard at your doorstep, book the Vineyard Cottages. Misc – Multi-port USB charging station provided (nice touch!) Not one, but TWO full length mirrors! A winery guide book was available in the room (available for purchase as well). Some opportunities: Balcony bannisters were not ideal for enjoying the view. Maybe consider plexi-glass at the next upgrade J Consider a larger table for the balcony (now that breakfast is in-room only due to Covid-19) Breakfast – could work on presentation. We eat with our eyes! The hot tub may need to be looked at. It squeals when the motor is running. Long story short, I would highly recommend this place and will surely come back in the future. We had a lovely time!
