A place too Expansive
The Studio apartment is below average in every sense, but the price. The apartment is too small, without a table to eat from. It is too far away from the beach, shopping mall and the restaurants, unless one has one's own transport (it took the local driver almost two hours to find the place. The cutlery is stored in a tray, covered with a cloth. The mattress has broken springs; it is lumpy and sages --- ver uncomfortable for sleeping. Pillows have musky smell. Totally unfit for bad knees or painful back. The restaurant at the place was never open. WiFi is fine, but A/C appears to have never cleaned. Too expansive for the location and facilities provided.
Thank you
Our flight was cancelled for the night at the last minute operator failed to organise hotels so we ended up an anglers. We arrived late at night and desperate for somewhere to stay.Chandra had an influx of guests but she welcomed us all at the last minute. The apartment was basic but extremely clean and fit for function. The three dogs are lovely with Jake being our particular favourite. We cannot thank Chandra enough for accepting us and taking us in at the last minute in our time of need. She also allowed us to stay throughout the next day until our taxis came back for us as opposed to just slinging us out at check out time. The gardens are maintained by a friendly gent and they are beautiful and very tranquil. Chandra thank you for having us we hope to come back some day and see Jake again
Tired and dirty
I spent two night at Angler and was very happy to leave. I loved the old style colonial housing on arrival however that’s where it ended for me. The room was full of cockroaches so I didn’t dare use the kitchen as that’s where they seemed to favour. I was travelling solo and the lady owner parked me in a studio to the side of the house with a door that didn’t close properly and I felt very unsafe. The whole place was empty yet this was all I got. The WiFi is a joke and she disappeared on my first evening there and switched the connection off so I was stranded with no internet. She has 3 dogs which I don’t mind but there is dog poo all over the gardens at the side of the house. The worst was the 15BBD breakfast she presented. I asked for poached eggs which she microwaved and they were still raw. She blasted them again and when I finally tasted them they were actually off. So disgusting. The butter was sour. This lady doesn’t care about her guests. Sorry. I’m a frequent traveller and am generally pretty happy with whatever I get but I do feel she is taking the mick with her pricing on this place. It’s generally dirty. Be clean and if will be a major step forward to start.
If it's surprises you're into you'll love this place
The perfect place for those who don't mind the odd surprise. Such as being welcomed by two large noisy dogs (one rather more welcoming than the other) whose presence has somehow been overlooked in the literature. Ditto the absence of window screens or bed nets to prevent mosquito invasions, maniac jetskiers in the bay racing just yards offshore to see who can be first to maim someone in the roped-off swimming area and a raft of unheralded additions to your bill -- $15 for use of the washing machine, $3/day for use of intermittent wifi (in contrast to the 'free' description in the literature) and $2.50/day for use of the valuables safe in your room. If it's surprises you're into, Angler Apartments has it all.
Another Fabulous Stay
We stayed here in March 017 and have just returned from our second stay of 11 nights over Christmas - it was like going home. Chandra welcomed us and gave us the same studio so we could settle in quickly then sit on veranda with a chilled Banks beer . The garden is still beautiful - peaceful with mango trees and even a green monkey passed through. Perfect spot to relax but beaches, shops etc only 5 mins on bus so you can choose where you want to be. Love this place - looking at flights for 2018!
