I had a flight delay which caused me to miss a connection … thereby stranding me in my connecting city. In the chaos of rebooking for the following morning and finding a hotel and transportation at midnight, I failed to call the Holiday Inn Salado to tell them I would not make the first of my two night stay. My card was charged for both nights, so all good there. When I tried to check in the following afternoon to take advantage of my second already paid night, I was told I’d have to pay again. I challenged this, and the front desk staff called the site manager Dixie who said I broke my reservation by not calling. She relayed that if I’d called they could have worked with me. I explained they still could work with me as I was NOT asking for a refund … only for a room for which they acknowledged I’d already paid for … which they again denied. Never again Holiday Inn. We’re done.

Comfortable Stay, But Needs Update

Holiday Inn Express has been our “go-to” hotel for almost 20 years. We look forward to a clean and comfortable stay. This hotel is clean and comfortable. Pool is very nice and breakfast is as expected, but rooms need updating.

Not a lot of great choices in Salado/Belton so booked a stay late in the week. Check-in was "ok" but hardly welcoming or acted like they valued the business. Room was very average, the toilet paper holder had no roller in it, paper was just in rolls on the sink counter. Towels well worn, scratchy and small. Breakfast very average, still providing synthetic eggs and synthetic bacon (I swear it's not real bacon). Room had a single serving Kuerig coffee machine but no K-cups, had to go down to the desk where they parcelled out two whole K-cups. Place was ok for one night but if I was staying a week on business I'd certainly go somewhere else. For $180 a night, one would expect a little more, or at least a toilet paper roller in the room. Would not ever stay here again. Mattress was horrible, 3 days later I still have back pain, almost slept in the chair it was so bad. Just "Meh." Nothing more.

We’ve stayed at this HIEX several times in the past few months, in town to visit friends. This sure is a popular place to stay! This hotel and the HI a few miles away are often fully booked. It’s nice, surprisingly quiet considering the location on busy I35. The staff here are very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I sure do love their pool. Sometimes during summer, the pool has been too crowded to get in, but when the crowds leave, ahhh! It’s so nice. The breakfast is nothing special, it’s the same HIEX breakfast served all across the USA. Wish they would add waffles, berries, and cream. This dining area was super clean and they do still have fresh coffee available long after the breakfast is over. They also have hot water 24/7 so you can have hot tea in the middle of the night. They provide green tea and earl grey, I take my own Sleepytime tea, noodle bowl, hot chocolate, etc. the hot water is a big bonus for my family. Also, every time we’ve been here, there is a channel guide in our rooms, this is very thoughtful and I wish all hotels provided this. The toiletries are nice. This hotel is good for the brand, I’ve stayed at some questionable IHG properties during the pandemic, and was considering switching over to Hilton, but this Salado property has restored our faith in IHG. It’s comfortable, clean, and the employees throughout the hotel are extremely friendly.

Nice, bright, clean hotel with super friendly staff. Everyone we encountered was super friendly & greeted you with a smile. The pool area was attractive & the pool was clean. The room was clean, the beds were clean, comfy, & smelled clean too. Our only blip was that we woke early the next day & there was no hot water for showers at 5am. The desk clerk had no idea why & could not help, but he did express his concern. We let the water run continuously for 30 mins & it finally got hot at 5:30am. Luckily we were up early & in no rush to get anywhere. But other than that, no problems & I would definitely stay again. The included breakfast had several options and we had plenty to eat. Good location – easy to get on & off of the highway or into Salado itself.
