Lovely one night stay
What a lovely place, lots of character and friendly owner, can also recommend Hotel Lion D’Or for evening meal, very good food and service. This was our overnight stay on way down to Lot Region of France and wish we were staying longer

Don't be late. This is traveller advice and possibly an idea for this B&B to make things a bit easier for customers. The star rating is irrelevant as I didn't make it in to the premises. I arrived at the stated address at 19:22. Tried to find the B&B on Rue de L'Abreuvoir and couldn't locate the establishment. I walked around the corner on to Rue du Général Giraud but still couldn't find the B&B. I asked a few people but no one knew. I phoned the number at around 19:50 after more wandering but there was no answer. I finally found a house with someone home and they directed me to the building, by this time I was one hour late. After checking the email confirmation it was clear that I was required to check in in between 17:00-19:00. I hadn't noticed this at the time of booking, so it's all my fault. What I will say is that it looks like the official entrance to the property is actually located on Rue du Général Giraud with Rue de L'Abreuvoir mainly used to access the gardens and driveways at the rear of these properties, apart about 2 properties on the other side of the road. For fellow travellers the building is located on the east corner of the intersection of these two roads. *See photo, the nice lady at number 4 Rue de L'Abreuvoir said it is here: dropped pin, not starred favourite location. If I had arrived at 18:50 I would still have been late by the time I'd actually found the property. Or maybe the gates at the rear of the property would have been open at this time. Basically, a sign saying Chambres La Vallée would have drastically reduced my search time. There might be one but I couldn't see it anywhere. As I've already said I accept that I was late and should have read the information much more thoroughly as I wouldn't have booked this, I'm guessing, mostly unmanned B&B. I was delivering to a destination south of Limoges and had driven 750 miles by the time I got to Salbris, so I definitely wasn't at my sharpest after a 02:00 start in the U.K. I ended up driving to a rest area and slept in the back of my van. I have been charged for my booking within the terms I agreed when I booked. Silly me, but hopefully someone will find this useful. I picked the B&B after reading reviews so I hope this helps. C'est la vie.
Rustic, farm house hotel by the river
La Vallee is such a wonderful place to stay. Me and my partner were greeted warmly. We were shown to what we thought was just going to be a double room, turned out to be an amazing sized cottage which only cost us around €65 for the night. Wonderfully spacious bedroom with a massive, comfy bed. Two toilets and a whole living room just for us. Our French isn't very good and the owner was so sweet and went out of his way to try and communicate with us in English. This is the prefect place to stay, either just for a night or for your whole holiday. The owners are sweet and welcoming, there's a friendly ginger tabby cat and it's situated right by the river. Perfect.
Great Place, Great Stay, French rustic charm
Our room was part of a self contained unit that benefited from the addition of a lounge and small kitchen area. There was a also an additional sleeping area adjacent so a family could be easily accommodated together. The whole place had been restored with rustic charm and lots of original features. Immaculately clean and finished to a very high standard. A lovely quiet spot that served as an excellent base for us a couple of days motorcycling. Our host was very helpful and welcoming and served us a great breakfast in a separate building that was a former forge - and made up a great fire in the forge's 'oven' to welcome us in. A great place to stay. We would highly recommend this place - especially as a stop over point journeying south on A71 past Orleans.
Excellent
We had a very pleasant stay in this charming rustic hotel, spacious rooms and very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean through out with shower, kitchen and lounge to sit and relax. More than adequate facilities for tea and coffee making. Breakfast was fabulous, served in a traditional style with the log fire burning; we were served freshly baked cakes as well. The hotel is conveniently situated for travelling and is close to shops, restaurants....Delightful mother and son team so happy to help. We will definitely stay at this place again and would recommend it to our friends.
