Fine property and staff, questionable breakfast during COVID
We stayed one night pre-flight out of SLC at the end of our trip. Digital check-in was easy, room was fine. My only complaint was breakfast. Out of all the hotel COVID breakfast we saw this was the quirkiest. They had you fill out a form and drop it off the night before. Then in the morning, it should be bagged up sitting there ready for you. Our bag wasn't there, she was busy making them but you'd think they could have them ready on time. And it seemed like such a waste of packaging with eggs going into a big cardboard box. No fresh fruit. Big disappointment. Everything else was fine though!
Excellent staff
Everything starts off with how the staff greets you at check in. Can’t say much about Homewood always been a great stay every time I go there. Staff is always super friendly and will help you out with anything to help your stay even better.
Vacation
Spent one night. Hotel is nice, everything very clean. Had a king studio suite. The bed was part way in front of the dresser making it a challenge if you got up during the night not to run into the dresser, I mean you couldn’t even open the drawers without hitting the dresser. Make sure your room doesn’t face the expressway. Breakfast was good, with hot eggs. Everyone was friendly.
This hotel doesn't seem to take COVID protocols seriously
During these times of COVID when I travel (mostly on business) I do not want anyone entering my room. So imagine my surprise when I came back at the end of the day to find housekeeping in my room since there was a sign by the front door that said that housekeeping would be done ONLY ON REQUEST. I went to the front desk to find out why housekeeping was in my room. The lady at the desk asked me if I had put out my DO NOT DISTURBE sign. I told her about the sign by the door and that I didn't think that I needed the DND on the door because I didn't request housekeeping. She told me that she was not aware of any sign like that and even went as far as showing a picture of a different sign in the bathroom to prove I was wrong. When I showed her a picture of the sign she told me that I should have read the welcome letter on the desk that said they do housekeeping every 3 days, this still made no sense because this was only my second day. Instead of owning up to the mistake they put it on me for not hanging the DND sign on the door or reading the welcome letter that was probably somewhere under my stuff I piled on the table. So what they are telling me is that you shouldn't go by the signage in the room, like the one that says that the room has been sanitized or the one that says that towels on the floor will be replaced, as long as there is a letter somewhere that says they will do differently. I immediately packed up my things and checked out of the room and was told by the lady at the front desk, who conveniently had no nametag on, that "You are still going to be charged for tonight". What great customer service!
Very noisy and no hairdryer
My husband and I needed a hotel close to the airport as we had a very early flight out after a week in Deer Valley. We chose this property because it’s new and we figured it would be good quality. Big mistake. First of all, the noise level is TERRIBLE!! At around 11 at night, I could hear the person in the room above us whistling and stomping around his room. The floors and walls are so cheap, you can hear everything!! Also, at 2am, I called the front desk asking where the hairdryer was. The staff had no idea if there even was a hairdryer and offered me zero assistance in getting one. What a disappointment in this property especially since my husband is a Hilton platinum member and we could have stayed anywhere.
