More about the hotel
Basic and good hotel but a few flaws
My husband and I stayed at Ghala hotel for two nights. Overall, I think the hotel is good. Great location with very friendly staff, however, that said I think we were quite unlucky with our room (602). We had informed the hotel prior that we were on our honeymoon so they kindly arranged for our room to be situated on the top floor with a nice balcony. Problem with this was it meant we had no WiFi connection at all. We also had issues with our toilet which overflowed - but as soon as we told staff, they were quick to fix it! Secondly, the room included a jacuzzi bath tub which was much needed after two months backpacking, but when the water was let out, we noticed the floor drain started overflowing too, resulting in a very wet bathroom. Lastly, at 7am on the day of check out (check out is 10am) we heard someone trying to get into our room but we had the lock on. When we looked no one was outside, so not sure if this was an electrical fault with the door lock or a very confused fellow guest - totally dumbfounded! On another note, you can have breakfast included in your package but please note it is basic I.e toast, cereal and a little fruit. If this is an extra cost in your package, I wouldn’t bother as there are great cafes nearby. Additionally, the hotel has a gym, pool table, roof terrace and indoor swimming pool which is good if you have children to entertain. Even though we had a few issues, we would stay at the hotel again. The rooms were big, the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly and it’s in a fab location.
Do not expect anything special
Plenty of space in the room. The equipment rather old but in good shape. Traditional Argentinean breakfast: cereals, not that tasty bread and rolls, jam, caramel, fruit etc. Small pool that encouraged only our kids to enter it. Air condition very noisy even when fan set to minimum. Internet connection only in the reception area.
Dreary hotel in good location
The room was large but dreary and needed refurbishing, as did the whole property. Breakfast was poor. No WIFI except in the lobby. The whole experience was quite depressing although it was relatively cheap to stay and such a great location
Would definitely recommend!
We just stayed at this property and really liked it. The main reason....the staff. From the moment we pulled up in the taxi and the desk clerk came running out to carry our luggage across the street we were impressed. A bonus for us is the clerks all spoke English, such a plus for Español challenged people like ourselves. A lovely young man named Hernan went beyond to help us with some difficult travel plans. He was able to translate and call the airline for us to get us on our way. He was always smiling, so polite and friendly to everyone that approached the desk. The type of boy a mother would be so proud of. Our room was large, very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The only drawback of the hotel is that there is no WiFi in the rooms. The staff told us that would be changing. WiFi is a must for travellers making ongoing travel plans and trying to stay in contact with loved ones. It would be better for the hotel as well so not so many people are hanging about the common areas. Would recommend especially if this issue changes.
OK hotel, no wifi in rooms
This hotel is very central located in the city centre of Salta. The rooms are very big and there's Airco. Great bathroom. Good and comfortable beds also. The hosts at the reception are not so friendly: they give very short answers and are not so creative. The breakfast is ok: lot's of unhealthy food in a warm room with loud television. Please be aware that there's no wifi in the rooms, only in the hall downstairs. If you visit Salta, I would recommend another place to stay, this is OK but not special at all.
