Disappointing and Dreary

Reviewed 23 september, 2021

The staff were great, did everything they could to make you feel at home, the room was spotlessly clean but in dia need of work. We were at the back of the hotel over the kitchen and dining room, the noise from the extractor system was ridiculous and was on all the time the kitchen was open. The wall between the rooms were very thin and you could here people going to the toilet in the next room. Our room (25) had a very strong damp smell and you would not want to spend any time in the room.

Off the beaten track but setting was great and well worth the effort to find. Restaurant was very popular so we always booked ahead. Food was always very good, never bothered to eat out in the evening. Staff very friendly and worked together which created a relaxed atmosphere. Room was clean and comfortable with maid service every day we stayed. In short we would recommend and go back again.

Hi booked to have a meal at 7.30 and all was goo so far waitress showed us to the table then waitress came back to take our drinks order. Ordered our meal whilst all of our glasses were empty and did not offer us another drink so we waited and finished our starters and still nothing!!!! About an hour later our mains turned up and all was ok apart from my daughter had fish and chips that was full of grease so don’t recommend the fish and chips!!! Yet think it was about an hour and a half before they even offered and asked if we would like another drink but finally got our drinks. Waitress came over with our drinks on a tray And could not even be bothered to take away the empty glasses!!! We liked the place but think the service was very poor.

Came here for a weekend away with the partner and must say such a fabulous little place, the bar staff where brilliant Erin, caitlin annalise, jenny, couldn't do enough for us and had to put up with a load of rubbish from a few old couples who was rude and just none stop moaning. But we had a great time great food great drink room was good enough its what you pay for its a little country pub beautiful and rustic :)

Very sad and disappointed

My partner and I booked to stay a weekend at the Weary Friar Inn last weekend. Unfortunately my partner was unwell and we were unable to travel so we had to cancel our stay. The initial conversation was with a gentleman who seemed sympathetic to our situation and I gathered from this we would not be charged having not been to inn. We later realised the hotel had debited my partner's account with £280. We were rather upset and I have since contacted them to appeal to them about this amount bring taken. I have just come off the phone with a girl at the Weary Friar Inn when I expressed my distress to her and she simply laughed and hung up the phone. Terrible customer service I would urge others to book elsewhere.
