Nice room but dirty floors
I’m a regular customer of Staybridge suites but have never been to this location before. I’m sorry to say that housekeeping did not do a good job with the bathroom floor. It was filthy and we called the front desk to see if they could get it clean or get me something to clean it with. They said they would check but never called back. So I took some paper towels and soap from the kitchenette and cleaned it myself. At $140 us per night (cheap by US standards but expensive for Mexico) this is not good. I hate carelessness and it’s becoming common here in Mexico now. I have other choices for my hotel stays. Not sure they understand this notion here.
Great Choice
Loved it here. New hotel, great bed, beautiful rooms. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Very glad we chose to stay here. Affordable, safe. Typical location for Saybridge Suites. Would definitely stay here again.
Good long-term option for a more civilized stay
Just had my first stay at this new hotel, for my 14th trip to Saltillo since last April. I planned an 8-day stay over a weekend to maximize my time. Usually I stay at the hotel next door which is popular with American visitors. This came up cheaper in my search when booking, and as it was brand new I was very much looking forward to my stay. The room isn’t as large, and maybe isn’t a true “suite” as there are not separate divided rooms. It’s also a plain color scheme; white walls and dark colored furniture and trim. But it still had a lot to offer. The queen bed was comfortable and the sofa also. The room is well-lit and has a wall-mounted digital thermostat. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner are actually good quality and lather well. The room is very quiet. The best part of the room for me was the small kitchen area. It includes cupboards with real plates and flatware, which was very nice to have a more civilized experience when eating in the room. (There are many restaurants, stores, and even a mall within easy walking distance. But I get tired of going out for dinner EVERY night.) I really liked having the full-size refrigerator, with a water and ice dispenser (These weren’t working for some reason, but I never got around to complaining about it as there was already plenty of ice in the freezer.) That meant I could get larger and/or more bottles of pop and water and beer to keep on hand, rather than having to go to a bar or restaurant every time, or going to the store repeatedly. I could also keep leftovers. (The small cube fridge in the other hotel always presented a challenge.) The room also has a small electric cooktop and pots and pans, so I could boil water for ramen noodles - but one could do a lot more cooking if they wanted to. There’s even a set of knives, including a large chef’s knife. (Some other hotels don’t even have plastic knives on hand.) and oh yeah, a full-size under-counter dishwasher! I had already planned on washing clothes during my stay. My room had a small laundry basket! They have a free self-service laundry with several machines. No waiting and no tokens. You either bring your own detergent or buy from the front desk. (I had my own single use packets, but I think their cost would have been reasonable.) Breakfast is ok. A bit sparse and same almost every morning. But the self-serve coffee machine was nice; it grinds the beans fresh for each cup, and is free to use day or night. They did tell me later I could request items for breakfast, which I may do next time I stay here. During the week they have a social hour in the early evening, with free food from one of the local restaurants, pop (including my favorite, Coke Zero), and beer (Tecate and Tecate Light). Outdoors, the hotel has a pool, outdoor grille, and a basketball court. I didn’t really use any of these but these are unique. Only a few things really irked me. One was the confusing lighting switches, including a switch near the door that powers off the whole room. It also took me almost a week to realize there was another switch on another wall for another set of lights. Also no way to turn on/off the front light from the sleeping area. Second, while the toilet is new and worked ok, it would occasionally “bloop” upwards. (The less said about that, the better.) Third, while there is a sofa, there is no coffee table or side table on which to place drinks or snacks while sitting. There are wheeled ottomans to put your feet up, but these aren’t reliable for beer bottles. I’ll certainly plan to stay here again if we plan another long visit, and if I can still get the very reasonable rate (though in perspective, the room also slowed me to save a lot of money on meals, snacks, and services). I liked having a home-like feel and experience.
Great hotel !!!
We love this property. It is brand new, the staff is very friendly and professional. Rooms are clean and very good spacious. It is well locate as you have shops nearby within walking distance. The rates are very good for what you get.
